Dear friends,
Is anyone able to decipher the word in the right margin of attached baptism record. The child William Lyon was born out of wedlock and I wonder if the margin word is a reference to this.
Thank you so much.

Hi,
I read it as "private."

It could be 'private' which indicates a baptism at home if the child was unlikely to survive.

Private
Often a baby was baptised at home (the 'I baptise thee and sprinkling of water part') if they were thought to be in danger of dying, sometimes you will also see a note saying 'received into church' on x date when the rest of the sacramental rites were performed at the church.

I agree, "Private". :)
