Hi
I'm looking for a William Harbidge (1786-?) post 1841. He was born and baptised in Belbroughton in 1786. Father: Samuel. Mother: Mary.
He married Maria Latchford in 1810 in Birmingham, but then seems to have stayed in the Bromsgrove area (perhaps only going to Birmingham to marry).
In 1841, he's living in Bromsgrove with wife Maria and son Charles. Occupation - nailer.
I know he had three children (that I've found): James (1813), William (1819) and Charles (1828).
There is a death in 1851 for a William Harbidge in Belbroughton who would have been the right age. However, there is also a William Harbidge in the 1861 census living in Bromsgrove who has the right age and occupation (nailer). He is listed as living as a widow.
The one who died in 1851 was living in Fenn Brook and the person present at death was a Mary Waldron. I don't know who this person is. When looking for any other William Harbidges who died post 1861 (assuming the William in 1861 could be mine), I only found the following death in Bromsgrove on GRO:
William Harbach - Died 1866 aged 81 - Bromsgrove
Which William is mine? The one who died in 1851 or the one living in 1861? If I could find him in the 1851 census this would help.

In 1851 there is a William Harbidge age 66 with wife Ann in Bromsgrove occ Nailmaker
-
FreeREG has a Burial 30 Mar 1851, Holy Trinity, Belbroughton
Age 66, abode Belbroughton Bell Heath
Bell Heath was where Charles was born on his bapt.
If this is the one whose cert you have Mary Waldron may have been a neighbour/nurse present at death.
There are 2 burials for a SAMUEL H same church;
30 Jun 1815 age 70
02 Sep 1825 age 11 (poss. son of William/Maria?)
-
I cant see William/Maria or Charles in 1851 Census.
-
What happens to his wife - is she around as married or widowed in 1851 or has she died? **
You may have to get the death for the other one to see if that confirms it :-\
**possible death in 1849 buried Belbroughton

In 1851 there is a William Harbidge age 66 with wife Ann in Bromsgrove occ Nailmaker
In 1861 this William is still living at High Street, Bromsgrove occ Nailer but now a widower age 76.
ADDED He is in Bromsgrove in 1841 with wife Ann
-
The 1851census was taken on the night of Sunday 30th March, so if William had been buried that day his widow probably had more on her mind than filling in census.
-
In 1841, he's living in Bromsgrove with wife Maria and son Charles. Occupation - nailer.
He is in Fen (?) Belbroughton in 1841 :-\
ADDED. This address is next to Bell Heath on the 1841 census

Thank you so much all! I had a feeling the William who died in 1851 could be more likely but the one alive in 1861 really threw me.
-
Yes I can understand the Bromsgrove William in 1861 was confusing.
Looks like you are on the right track now :)
