I'm new to the the forum and new to ancestry etc. I'm finding it very interesting also confusing! I have a lot to learn! I'm definitely finding the Irish side of my family more challenging to research.
I'm specifically trying to find a death date for my great grandfather (Bernard Naan) who was was born 1868. From county Fermanagh, Altnaponer. (Also lived in Clones and Brookboro I believe) I have found the Irish genealogy website very useful. I have found marriage documentation to my great grandmother (Catherine Lynch) although Bernard Naans age is a couple of years off on this, I believe this is an error.
Catherine Lynch died a few days after child birth to my Grandfather in 1911 and Bernard Naan remarried a Mariane McQuaid in 1921. I can't seem to find any record of what happened to Bernard or Marianne, I have looked on ancestry, the Irish genealogy website, it's like they just disappeared. My grandfather died in the 50s when my dad was a baby so unable to ask relatives.
Does anyone know where else I can look?
Thanks I'm advance 🤞🏻

Irish Genealogy has no records for the counties that became Northern Ireland from 1922, you need GRO of Northern Ireland.

The records on Irish Genealogy only go up to 1921 for N.I. counties- after that date you need to use GRONI's website-

Fermanagh Herald, 13 Oct.1906: ... for Mr. James Naan. The Farm contains 48 statute acres or thereabouts, held as a judicial tenancy under Sir Douglas Brooke, Bart., subject to the yearly rent of £5 _s _. This valuable farm, which was formerly occupied by Mr. Bernard Naan, is well situated ...
No N.I. deaths for a Bernard Naan from 1922-1969.
There is this one who MIGHT be his wife-
D/1924/151/1019/11/170 Mary Naan 6th March 1924 age 35 Female Lisnaskea

Thank you so much for your replies and that information.
I will use that website for post 1922 NI searches going forward.
I also forget that sometimes Names are sometimes documented slightly different.
Strange that there doesn't seem to be any death record of Bernard still, I'm guessing it's possible he was living elsewhere at the time... I will try and look into it.
Thanks again 👍🏻

I searched for something about his death in newspapers, but drew a blank. I did however find this which may be of interest; it mentions Brooksborough, so possibly the correct Bernard Naan?

Yes I believe that is the correct Bernard Nann in the 1901 census, he was married shortly after this. Susanna Naan was his half sister and I am a DNA match to someone who descends from her. It's always confused me because on his marriage documentation it says he was 30 when married however...

With regards to the newspaper article. I believe it could be, his grandfather was called James Naan but I believe he had passed away by 1906. It doesn't help however that everyone seems to share the same names within the family! He was also still married to Catherine Lynch at that point until her death in 1911

..it mentions Brooksborough..
Brookeborough

May not apply but have you searched under Bryan/Brian. Researching my extended family for a Bernard Hurley he became Bryan in 1901 census. Identified through wife/family (Galway)

Regarding posting census details as mentioned earlier-
URL link-
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai000781175/
This is not the link I prefer to post as it only links to the actual image and if you want further information then you need to search again.
This is the link I prefer (although these links will apparently soon change)-
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Fermanagh/Grogey/Altnaponer/1356619/
Yes, it does take you to the transcribed page which may contain errors but from that page you can view the actual image (household return form A), the enumerator's return (form N) and house and building return (form B1). In the 1911 census there are two more forms that are linked to the transcription page.
