Anyone else being offered a free month on ProTools? $10 per month thereafter which is strange as I am on Anc UK. First noticed the message yesterday.

Yes, I have been getting the same offer. I shall not be taking it up as I am losing patience with Ancestry and all the nonsensical notice of hints clogging up my tree.

Yes I've had the same offer and have taken them up on it, confirmation states £7.99 per month starting next month (I'll be cancelling!). And I have checked, my card hasn't been charged this far.
Code is ProTime1MO if anybody else fancies it.

You can turn hints off

I signed up for the one month free trial yesterday and I was decidedly underwhelmed. What they give you surely isn't worth eight pounds a month. I think it should be included in the price of the test kit, and I think they will actually lose potential DNA customers if they actually realize that they won't be automatically given the centiMorgan size of their DNA matches' matches.

Pro Tools is not worth £7.99 per month on a repeating basis.
The only useful feature at present is comparing a DNA match where you can see how much DNA each of the Shared DNA matches shares with you and how much each one shares with your comparing DNA match.
My advice has been consistent since I first used it.
Blitz it for a month, cancelling renewal within the month, return to subscribing when you have sufficient new DNA matches to warrant the subscription.

Yes, that is why the free month offer is interesting. Unfortunately I don't have enough time at the moment so I have not taken it up. I am hoping it is still available when I have more time. I am guessing Anc are assessing how many do not cancel after the free month. Not many, I fancy.

Believe me, whatever is happening in your life at the moment, you have enough time to make use of this derisory offer. You can't even download the information in any sensible form. The best you can do is paste it into a spreadsheet and then do quite a lot of manipulation to get it to a stage where it is of use for stop every forum that I've read recently, that discusses this offer, and in fact the tools in general, is very negative. I think they must be losing so many customers who won't buy further kits because they expect this sort of statistics to be more readily available, and in a more manageable format.

Hi, Thought I'd give it a go but sadly am underwhelmed. The comparisons it offers are the same as the ones on My Heritage, FTDNA and Gedmatch which are free. I won 't be investing after the free month.

I agree. This has always been my major gripe with Ancestry. They omit or charge for what others give for “free”. Now it’s even worse since they removed a lot /most of the included features that came with an Ancestry DNA test, rendering it almost useless. I haven’t had any new matches for years, most of those I contacted didn’t reply, so have no real need to sign up to Ancestry again in the foreseeable future. I wonder how the company is faring.
