Hi all,
I am trying to find the birth record for an Alice Paisley believed to be born in Antrim who later moved to Dublin. She was born COI but was baptised into the Catholic Church in Harrington Street, Dublin prior to her marriage to a Michael Dempsey in 1902. We think she was born circa 1881 based on the fact she was listed as 77 at her death in 1958 but I know that's not necessarily her actual age. Alice's parents were George Paisley (waiter) and Jane Paisley (née Edwards). Any help on this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Trelawn

Here's the 1902 marriage-

If this is Alice with husband Michael Dempsey her birthplace given as Dublin City-
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Usher_s_Quay/Bow_Bridge/74029/
-
It is possible she was born in Dublin. The family assumed all the siblings were born up North but there is no concrete evidence for that yet.
-
Looks like father George Pasley of Clanbrassil St. died in 1897-
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/deaths_returns/deaths_1897/05866/4662811.pdf
Mother Jane died 1925-
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/deaths_returns/deaths_1925/05015/4370281.pdf
-
Possible birth in 1884-
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/birth_returns/births_1884/02670/1984141.pdf
-
The birth may be her sister as the family now tells me they think she was born on Valentine's Day. I think on a marriage cert somewhere she is a witness to a marriage and she is named as Alice Valentine Paisley
-
Thank you for the death records for her parents! Very helpful
-
There is baptism of Frances Paisley in 1884

Thank you!

There was a Rebecca born 19 Feb.1878-

Haven't found death or marriage yet.

Baptised as Sarah Rebecca

Also Annie born 1887
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/church/d-45-2-18-092.pdf
No image but there is a Thomas Edward baptised 27 July 1882 which could be their child.
Could Annie be Alice?
-
That's great thank you. I don't think Annie is Alice. 1887 is too late. I think she was born somewhere between 1879 and 1881.
-
Also Annie born 1887
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/church/d-45-2-18-092.pdf
Annie Georgina Paisley born 1887.

Yes that's the marriage. Here's the church record of it-

Just going through some more records and a few things don't make complete sense.
I did find this birth of an Alice-
Alice Paisley born 15 Feb.1877 but parents Robert & Mary Anne (Clayton)
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/birth_returns/births_1877/02999/2099334.pdf
This MIGHT be her marriage-

-
When Jane Paisley married John Hogg the witness was Alice Valentine Paisley
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1900/10355/5769592.pdf
At least I think it’s Valentine.
-
Yes, it is Valentine. So there's another child Jane :-\
Trying to see where Alice's birth fits into all this and here are the children I found so far-
George (27 Aug.1865)
Daughter (26 Dec.1866)
Isabella Mary (1 Oct.1868)
Daughter (20 Feb.1873)
Sarah Rebecca (19 Feb.1878)
Samuel Clifford (7 June 1880)
Thomas Edward (16 Apr.1882)
Frances (10 Dec.1884)
Annie Georgina (25 Sept.1887)
-
Thank you so much for all this. I wonder could Alice be the unnamed daughter born 20th Feb 1873?
-
Meant to add that I can see no children born in County Antrim or indeed anywhere else but Dublin.
-
The 1866 one is Jane, if you want to edit the list, I had added her to my post above but as an edit so you probably missed it.
-

-
Another daughter?
Alice Pasley was a witness at her sister Elizabeth Gertrude Pasley's marriage to Thomas Palmer (a sergeant in the Royal Artillery).
Date of marriage - 18 September 1894 at St Peter's Parish Church, Dublin.
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/files/civil/marriage_returns/marriages_1894/10571/5851020.pdf
**Edited to Add**
Her children with their grandmother in 1901 census.
(see previous post)
-
In 1911 Jane says she has 13 children with 10 living.
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Fitzwilliam/Pleasant_Street/79168/
Anyone keeping track of how many we’ve found so far?
-
George (27 Aug.1865)
Jane (26 Dec.1866)
Isabella Mary (1 Oct.1868)
Elizabeth Gertrude* (c1871)
Daughter (20 Feb.1873)
Sarah Rebecca (19 Feb.1878)
Samuel Clifford (7 June 1880)
Thomas Edward (16 Apr.1882)
Frances (10 Dec.1884)
Annie Georgina (25 Sept.1887)
Tree on FamilySearch listed her born 1871 but no source. That's ten so far- no clear if Alice is daughter born 1873 so if not born 1873 then we have 11.
OP still hasn't explained a County Antrim link :-\

The family is originally from Antrim and it was assumed the children were born there but when I found the marriage of George and Jane in 1865 swiftly followed by the birth of George Jr in 1865 I asked was it possible they moved to Dublin and stayed there. There's no way to know why they moved for sure but as you say, all children were born in Dublin so that's that. Thank you all for all the siblings you have found.
-
Bit confusing because in 1901 Jane is listed as born Dublin but in 1911 born Antrim.
People usually move for work, either their employer moves and they go with them or they move to a place with more opportunities.
-
In 1911 Jane says she has 13 children with 10 living.

Her daughter Isabella Pasley married Eugene Murray - 29 October 1893 - St Nicholas's RC Church, Dublin. Her father George Pasley described as a hotel assistant.

So we still need to find who are and what happened to the other 2 siblings. Jane said she had 13 children. There is a 5-6 year gap between Maria and Alice Valentine.

Thanks to aghadowey we can see they all signed Paisley, but they couldn't decide if their father was George John or John George ;D

Yes he seems to have gone by George, John George and George John interchangeably.
Sarah Rebecca and her husband Charles Henry are buried in Mt Jerome in the same grave as Alice and her husband Michael Dempsey

And Elizabeth Palmer (nee Pasley) is buried in the same grave as George, Jane, and Maria.
