Mary Virginia Eglinton aged 53 died in Glasgow 1982. mmn shown as Ryan
There is no birth for a Mary Virginia McMaster around 1928. A Virginia Mary Ritchie was b 1928 (Consular returns)
There is a marriage between Elizabeth Ryan & Thomas McMaster but it was in 1901 - 27yrs before Mary's birth
Riverside school was a primary school but where was your mother born & who were her parents?
-
The newspaper piece says her father was the late Robert McMaster.
She was given away by her uncle Mr Boyd
Cousins, Margaret & Eleanor Fowler of Fallin.

Thank you all very much for giving me so much information on my mother Mary McMaster. It has opened up some new avenues to research. Like I couldnt find the marriage certificate for herself and Billy Eglington in Stirling, thats because she was married in Bridge of Allan, no idea why, but there you are.
I have been considering getting a membership for newspapers for some time, and this seems a good time to do this, as there are photos of my mothers wedding and description of the marriage in the Bridge of Allan newspaper.
Thank you once again, much appreciated.
-
The article actually says that the wedding was in the North Church, Stirling, but the reception was at Bridge of Allan.
-
The marriage is indexed at Scotland's People:
William Donald Eglinton
Mary Virginia McMaster
1950
Stirling
No image
Certificates not available.
If you searched for Eglington you probably had the search set at Exact Match (note that the record has Eglinton). In my (limited) experience with searching at Scotland's People it is usually best to go with Fuzzy matching, to catch this sort of thing.
-
The 1982 death reg also shows surname as Eglinton - same as marriage
-
Thx Alan. This marriage is giving me a lot of problems. I tries fuzzy matches and wildcards on SP but nothing. Very frustrating. And North Church Stirling seemed more likely than B of A.
Thx for all your help.
Are you related to Eleanor Boyd and Husband Boyd who gave bride away?

Are you related to Eleanor Boyd and Husband Boyd who gave bride away?
Sadly no. My Boyds left Scotland for County Durham sometime before 1800.
