Started to fill out the MOD Medal Office PDF form requesting medals for my late FIL and got stuck when it came to "Dates of Service" and "Details of Overseas Service". Not having his ROS I can only guess, from the in-laws family information, on when he started service, and according to my OH she says he served in West Africa and was demobbed in July 1946. Are these answers adequate? or can I leave these boxes blank? I don't want to waste time printing out this form, incomplete, and mailing it off to Gloucester.
I've since applied for his ROS (Jan 2025) and the MOD told me (April 2025) that I now have to submit a new request to TNA as it has now been transferred there.
I submitted a new request to TNA (Apr 2025) and they tell me to process my request will take 10-12 months, so annoying and so frustrating........

I would give the details you’ve specified here and add that the places and dates are an approximation from what you’ve heard from family members. If there is not enough room, add an asterisk with the explanation at the bottom of the page, or include an additional piece of paper.
Good luck.

Thanks Ruskie, will probably end up doing just that.

My own father (a Royal Artillery officer) was in West Africa in 1945/6, at the School of Artillery in Accra. Presumably sent out to train African troops to fight the Japanese, but there is very little information about this online.
