Hi, hope someone out there may be able to assist with my enquiry.
Ian Anthony Ray aged 4 years old died 26 January 1944. He is buried in All Saints Churchyard at Freshwater, Isle of Wight.
I would really appreciate it if someone could check any local papers at that time for a death notice.
Many thanks in advance

Have you tried the British newspaper archive :-\
-
Yes, no luck there.
-
Are you trying to establish his exact date & cause of death?
-
I have his death date but I was hoping a death/obituary notice may include names of the mourners.

With WW2 still going on I doubt there were many :-\
-
Yes, I realise there may not be many names but am hopeful. I have had another death notice for a similar time and it had a lot of details in relation to the men in the family who were serving.
-
Maybe you need to contact the IoW newspapers direct as you have a date of death
-
I notice the IOW Record Office has copies of all newspapers so will possibly contact them.
Many thanks

Thank so much for giving me these details. It has helped fill in some gaps on the family for me.
