I am researching the above named, the son of John Henry and Marion Smith of 2Fern Lea, Longwood , Huddersfield, who won a Military Medal in 1945 and was killed in action on 16 February 1945 and is buried in Milsbeek war
Cemetery in the Netherlands. Before join in the army he was employed as a felt weaver by D Whiteford and Co ,
Longwood. A member of the MilnsbridgeSocialist and County club and played football for the Milnsbridge YMCA team.

A long shot but does anyone know if any of these organisations have a photo of him?

Does anyone know if he is remembered on a local war memorial?

He served with the 5h Highland Light Infantry.
