Title: Civilian death
Post by: Helina on Thursday 03 April 25 13:18 BST (UK)
I have a relative who died in 1944 age 17, on ancestry I have found a record saying he was a civilian death. Does that mean he was killed say from the bombing or  any deaths during the war was described as a civilian death

He should appear on the Commonweath War Graves site.  Civilian death would normally indicate that it was the result of war.

Do you want to tell us his name

I am sure that there used to be a site where you could see the other people who would have been killed at the same time and place but I can't remember what it was.

Does Ancestry have this information
James Ernest Kimberley
Address Great Eastern Street
Local authority Shoreditch MB
Age 17 years
Death date 24/07/1944
Type of casualty V1
V-weapon code SHOH03
V-weapon time 18:26:00

Go to CWGC, find him; then click on Shoreditch - you can bring up the whole list of Shoreditch casualties and then sort by date. Only 3 deaths on that date, but of course these deaths may have been caused earlier - or people injured at the same date may have died some time later.

There's one other death I can see on the same day related to the same incident in Great Eastern St - Reginald Giles b c1900, from Kentish Town

Looking at images, the entries seem to state if someone is injured and dies later
