Take care, keep well

I hope it doesn’t mean that the good weather will run out!
Can't believe it's April tomorrow, a quarter of the year gone already.

AND be careful - it is also April Fool's Day ;D ;D
-
Think i will stay in bed tomorrow , don't want to get into trouble being April fools day, wonder what the papers will concoct to try to fool us all
LM
-
You only need to stay there till midday LM, it's only applicable till noon. Just watch out for spaghetti falling from the trees. ;)

Like the humour.
My grandson now in Australia said it has rained every day since he arrived.

A really beautiful warm, sunny day here in Devon again. We were able to sit outside drinking our coffee after lunch and believe that the rest of this week will be just as warm, if not warmer. Even the church should be warmish tonight for choir practice. Meal will be an exotic salad consisting of burrata, tomatoes, herbs and toasted pine nuts amongst other delicious things, accompanied with new potatoes boiled with mint, which is growing already in our herb patch. Birds and bees are going crazy! May it long continue, though we have a lot of pots which now need watering (not my job :) ).
-
i ate lunch outside in sisters garden.
local radio says it will be lovely all week .
im working frantically on everyone's updates before my ancestry subs plus pro tools runs out on the 3rd
im seeing the friend whose African grandfather i investigated.
his cousin recently tested and it turns out they are not full cousins they share matches on the welsh grandmmotherd side but no mutuals from the grandfather also the ethnicity leans towards his mother being the daughter of the lodger from ghana .more than the husband sailor from sierre leone
which also leads me to conclude that the autism in the family comes from the welsh side .
so back to drawing board for the real grandfather ...most matches have small trees some are located in ghana surnames are typically ghanaien & one of the distant matches ( a younger generation) even has the same surname as the lodger ..
im not sure how to break it to him
-
Oh Dear!!
But the truth will out as they say.

I remember the spaghetti tree hoax, and as the only spaghetti many people knew at that time was in tins, it fooled quite a lot of people.
Well a gloriously sunny if cool day today ,son came to take me out on the scooter—— what a palavar just getting it out of the shed!
It slammed into the back wall ,dies not seem to harvest damaged it though
Down the road - once round the cemetery - back home but my it was so keen ,a feather touch and it jumped forward , so son took over and it did the same going up a kerb and lost a tyre!!!
It managed on the L side and middle front ,the R had come off .
Back home I phone Quingo and explained what had happened but son discovered it was set on the fastest mode,he altered that and it was much more manageable .
However they are coming tomorrow afternoon .
That will be fun ,the Ivan man was supposed to come this afternoon ,I had left a big note in the letterbox flap so it could be seen that we were only in the street and we were watching for him ,no note to say he had called so not been yet .
Rat man comes tomorrow, lots of rustlings under the kitchen units behind the kick boards , I have seen no traces but the traps we set were not sprung so I called for someone to come.
I never leave food out on the worktops and don’t now feed the birds unless the food is in a vermin proof gadget .
So what an exciting afternoon !
I kept saying the scooter was very keen!
>:( >:( >:(
Hope all are O.K.
It is hard to believe we are so far into the new year.
I have an echo scan booked in a week today ,a phone call yesterday .
I think it might be to do with expediting the pacemaker , I am not due to see the Consultant until July ,but the Heart Failure Nurse is trying very hard for me.
Best wishes to all waiting for urgent treatment .
Well Trump is going to cost our manufacturers dear with his import duties on foreign goods to the U.S.
Canada as a U,S state and Greenland ,Iceland !!!
We knew he was potty!
Well second son not back yet , so salmon for my tea ,bay leaf ,salt ,pepper, lemon juice ,a little butter,in foil face down for 20 minutes .
New potatoes ,well little one ,peas and sweet corn , then a Yoghourt .
Cheerio, Viktoria.

Viktoria speedy gonzales i can visualise you at breakneck speed
glad its being sorted tho
ive put my for sale items on my facebook page +on a whatssap group
I thimk Ive presuaded my cousin to keep her mothers first day cover album with less pages to make it more maneagable .
She has a daughter and grandchldren to pass historic treasures onto
my sisters children have already rejected several items .
had a lovely card from the chaplain to the present bishop of leicester thanking me for the picture and supporting me in endeavour to pass it to a museum where many can enjoy it .Didnt mention my offer for the Bishop to model it in front of the office !
-
All the best with your endeavours brigidmac ..
You too Viktoria with your new mobility method, sounds a bit frightening with that enhanced speed of scooter and the tyre coming off on kerb, imagine if it was just you with it would be quite a predicament!
OCT appt at optician was quick and all good, lovely visit with the new twins and parents. babies 2 months old and prem so still tiny, baby 1 was a bit bigger and birth but baby 2 has reversed that now. Both girls have a good covering of dark hair though baby one is definitely winning there with her locks :)
Didn't pick up on any April Fool jokes here yesterday ..
-
Well Quingo sent a technician this afternoon ,all fixed ,so we went a little way into the cemetery and did few manoeuvres , it is still keen in lowest setting and lurches forward but that is something I will get used to .
The chap advised the ramp my son made so well is rather too steep so as I suggested I in the first place it needs a longer much shallower one . I also think my little herb garden will have to go , the space it takes is not big but right in the way for the tight turn needed to put the scooter in its shed .
Rat man came this morning , put down six dishes of something or other - he will check on 16 th .£94 !
I need an industrial vac to clear all the builders’ rubble from under the units , how ever they left so much I can’t imagine !
Son not back yet ,probably tomorrow..
A lovely day if rather chilly ,but bathroom mats all washed, not the actual bath mats ,the pedestal ones etc .
Will watch the documentary this evening about Ruth Ellis , saw the dramatised version .
Hope those unwell or with problems soon see improvements in their conditions and circumstances .
Daffodils out, tulips nearly opening ,a few muscari but not one snowdrop !
Well - Trump’s tariffs will put the squeeze on things , it will be very hard I fear.
Hope are all alright ,I know there are some painful ,challenging conditions being stoically borne .
I do think of think of you all.
Thanks for your kind interest in my little problems ,nothing by comparison .
Well cheerio, and thanks for the news and good wishes .
Viktoria.

Practicing an electric scooter in the cemetery? What has the world come to?
the best April Fool was from Dublin, where they claim they are going to have wardens checking that nobody touches the shiny parts, of the statue of Molly Malone. You can probably guess where the shiny bits are. I thought that was the only one worth laughing at.

Isle of Man airport is to be renamed "The Sir Mark Cavendish" airport; apparently!
The give-away was the gold plated private parking space, and the cycle lane through security!

Well cars and a few motor bikes drive right up to the end of the row where their family’s graves are - still on the paths which are broad enough for cars and the council road maintenance vehicle depot is there so diggers etc go through .
The teenagers from the local estate get up to mischief I am pretty sure in the evenings - they seem to congregate there.
Dog walkers use it very much ,most keep their dogs on the lead though .
There are no signs scooters are not allowed.
What if I wanted to visit a grave, such as my dear friend and neighbour ‘s son and grandson’s grave which I have done since she died as no one else does.
She is buried elsewhere ,near where she lived as a child ,but it is a little act of kindness as she would be very upset that it is not visited.
I could walk down our very steep street but not back uphill .
I think to not go would be worse than going slowly on my scooter, which is a souped up chair on wheels !
I could do wheelies in the parking space af a redundant ambulance station now abandoned ,but up for sale so deserted .
That is if I ever get confident enough !
It is a big powerful beast ,not like the one I had a go on ,same model but that had been used for many demos I expect so was a lot tamer!
I will get there ,but slowly ,at the moment it is a big expensive worry .
Another lovely day ,but quite chilly.
I MUST tidy the garden ,stuff moved for the scooter shed is all over the place - bench and table, garden chairs , fig tree in huge pot,etc etc etc.
I can’t move much so rely on sons who just moved it all quickly for new shed.
Well this is not getting work done is it!
Cheerio, best wishes for those unwell and the lonely.
Thank goodness for RootsChat!

As long as Bushinn did not get run over- someone might have turned his head round —- a Lancashire folk song , about someone who went out wearing his coat back to front,he got knocked down, and someone turned his head round!
The Fivepenny Piece, singing a Lancashire folk song .

Viktoria, you are funny ;D :)
Run over, nearly on occasions.
Keep your chins up and be of good cheer!
Mark
-
" chins", how many do you think Viktoria has?, only joking.
It looks a really nice day but deceiving , I put a summer top on, sat in the garden before my noisy neighbours get out there, it is very cold but i do have a bad cough and cold so perhaps it is me, only out there minutes and came indoor, not after a tan, just Vit D.
Enjoy your day folks

It seems everyone further south is having lovely summery weather, unfortunately after quite a few sunny days here it's really chilly today and overcast. However, the signs of spring are in my garden, lots of little birds that I don't normally see. This morning I spotted a couple of goldfinches, bluetits and a very small robin. At least I think it was a robin, it was a bit fast for me to have a good look. And I think there are birds nesting in the ivy on the fence, I've seen one darting in and out of there. Have made sure the batteries in my ultrasonic cat scarer are working!
Lovely forecast for the rest of the week and temperature of 20° on Thursday, although they often change it nearer the time. A bit of warmth whatever it is will be welcome.
-
Lovely and sunny here. The Lifeguards are out on the beach for start of the swimming season.
-
Let's hope it lasts but I can't help wondering what sort of summer we will have.
LM
-
A good summer I hope but not too hot, I can’t stand excessive heat or cold these days unfortunately.
-
Yes Louisa Maude ——— CHINS!!!
I only have one ,truly ,but a scraggy neck ——well at barely seven stones I am scraggy .
Pretty well all over :(
Glorious if cool day here , have cleaned out the shed !
Ooooh the junk I keep.
Found a brand new shovel ,the one I use is all of 59 years old.
I bought it the day after we arrived back in England , couldn’t find the Belgian one , in a shop I swear was the one in “Four candles”.
A bit the worse for wear now.p, not the shop msadly that is now a wine bar!
Can remember buying the new one , but being a Scrooge by nature I am saving it ———
Cheerio everyone ,look after yourselves.
Viktoria.
I will be al aches and pains after it all.
A hot bath and hair wash this evening after The 1%Club.
Well time to start tea, no rest for the wicked!
Serves me for reading THAT book in my mum’s dressing table drawer- the bottom one! —-looking for an old perfume bottle she kept as a little reminder of her late sister , “Oppoponax” , mmmmm.
Still a faint scent ,her sister had died very tragically about twenty years previously.
Well ,look after yourselves folks .
Cheerio. Viktoria.

Hey, ho!!! Whatever the weather holds for us, there will be some who are upset to a greater or lesser extent.
Oh for the days when I could sit out in the sunshine and enjoy it, spending hours lying on a beach in the South of France with a good book - now I have to avoid it, due to melanoma.
Never satisfied, are we? :-\ :-\
AND - I have to say that I'm still here, still causing chaos, still don't give a sh.., and as long as I've got a smile on my face, I can get away with a lot more than being a grumpy old fa.t!! :-X
-
I enjoy the heat! 24C to 28C is ideal for me.
Been sunning myself yesterday and today - with Factor 50 of course!
Not warm enough until 11 or 12, though.
-
Keep it up Bumble,
I like a steady 75 degrees, don't sit out much now, in and out to the garden I can get a bit of a tan that at least looks as if I have seen the sun, today it has been really nice but it is chilly with a breeze, we have to make the most of it, if the weather changes the poor birds will be confused.

Gosh Viktoria you have just taken me back 50 years, a five year old, a three year old, no phone no money but we had two healthy kids and a roof over our heads and were happy.,
I still have the LP but nowt to play it on, remember “where there’s muck there’s brass”, and the one about Lowery “ matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs”
Mike
-
I remember match stick men.
LM
-
Lovely memories of those "old" songs, thanks for the reminder.
AND - I hope that you have all pruned your roses. I was told by my father's next-door neighbour, back in the past, that if you hadn't pruned the roses by Grand National Day, then it was too late! This was mid-Cheshire and back in the '50's :)
Sorry to have left it a bit late :'( AND my sole white rose (well my family are from Yorkshire!) has been pruned. :-*
-
I’ve just noticed I have spelt L S Lowry incorrectly and it should, if my memory serves me correctly,
should be marchstalk men.
I’ve done my roses all 46 of them and a first spray against blackspot (says he smugly :) ;)”

You almost had it right first time!
"Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogs" was a tribute to the artist L. S. Lowry, who had died in February 1976. The chorus makes reference to Lowry's style of painting human figures, which was similar to stick figure drawings (a "matchstalk" is a matchstick in the Salford dialect).

When in Belgium, we bought a Lowry print when here f or a family visit .
Many English friends in Belgium had pictures of their towns, villages in England .
Lovely Cotswold scenes, Yorkshire moors, Lake District ,Cathedrals etc.
So a bit of inverted snobbery and we bought the one of the huge viaduct at Stockport , it looms over the town.
Not from Stockport but it is an impressive painting.
We also got “ Waiting for the chip shop to open “ and “ Coming home from the match” I think that is its title.
Well sunny day wuth cool breeze, my Mum’s birthday today ,she would have been 129, born 1896.
Gosh the things she told us from her childhood , she saw Buffalo Bill, on one of his visits ,with Indian people ,parading through Manchester ,
Not sure of the date ,I think he made more than one visit.
Victoria’s funeral, newspaper accounts , Edward’s Coronation etc etc
Well, I don’t go really golden tan ,more brown patches, a bit like Vitiligo .
Someone had a kind laugh about my chins ,well only one as I said but I was for a time known as ‘ The face that launched a thousand chips”
The chippy not far from our first home , Wes so good, very clean and the chips and fish were delicious .
The man cooked and prepared the fish etc and they both served .
The lady became ill, so for a time they asked me to help out .
It was good fun ,a laugh and jokes whilst the queue waited patiently for the freshly cooked food.
So that was my nickname ,given me by the many workmen who bought their lunches there .
Helen of Troy I was not ,nary a trireme or quinquireme set sail to,rescue me !
I did not need it though.
Quinquereme of Nineveh from far distant Ophir ———
We sang that in an inter school choir competition.
It is all creamy and gentle,Stately Spanish galleons— THEN-
Staccato —- Dirty British Coaster, with a salt caked smokestack—-
John Masefield .
We won the competition.
Hey Ho!
Back to work or something that vaguely resembles it
Thanks for all your news and look after yourselves .

It was me brigidmac, thanks for helping out with that. There'll be no stopping you now, lots of places to go and visit with your bus pass. :)
Beautiful day here today, the sun returned and despite a cold wind off the sea it was a lovely spring day. Good to have the lighter evenings too.
I don't have any roses to prune and am still delaying deadheading my hydrangeas, it gets quite cold at night sometimes.
