So I am researching my 3rd great grandfather whose name is Johan Frederick Quincel and I have him born around 1810 - 1814. He immigrated through New Orleans from a ship that departed from Matanzas, Cuba. I also have an abstract passenger list that has his origin at Germany. Both were in 1836. He settled in Pike County, Ohio and I have gotten a document online from their archive saying he was naturalized on Oct. 7th. 1852 and he was listed as subject of King of Hanover. I am aware of a few different spellings on my last name they are Quensel, and Quinsel. I'm not sure my last name is very common in Germany so I'm confused as to where it comes from as well. I also have a public ancestry tree if needed

Hans Bahlow's book "German Names" does not include Quinsel, it does, however, include Quensell ...
" Quensell ... 'a bulbous vessel'? "
... so, sorry, no help with location.
