Title: Ancestor that does not appear on the Civil Registration Birth Index
Post by: Somme1200 on Saturday 29 March 25 18:56 GMT (UK)
Hello all. I have been pondering this for a while as it is a rather strange case.
My 3x great grandfather Henry France was (or at least claimed to have been) born in April 1872 in Manchester on all of his census returns but he does not appear on the Civil Registration Birth Index at all (I have searched 10 years either side of 1872). Even more weirdly his parents got married about a year and a half after his claimed birth (1st January 1874). If anyone is able to help me on this matter I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

It the parents were not married he was likely registered under his mother's maiden name (or whatever name she was using when he was born).
