Roger Andrew Neilson is my 3rd cousin. He was born Nov 25, 1912 in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada and died Sept 28, 1967 in Red Deer. Edna was his second wife. They married Oct 12, 1938 in Fairholm, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Would like further info on Roger for the family tree.
Thank you. Peggy

I'm not sure whether you are looking for his parents and going back or looking for information on his life. From a tree on ancestry
Father Frederick Andrew Neilson (1889-1949)
Mother Susan Mae Rogers (1891-1977)
Ah I see you have left a message for the owner of the tree.
So on April 6 1936 on his border crossing papers to US he was single, so where is the evidence for a first marriage ?
-
I am sorry to misspeak, crisane. Roger was Edna's second husband. Looks like they may have had 6 or 7 children. Someone called Gowrie has an extensive tree on ancestry but he didn't reply to my message so I don't know who he is or how he is DNA related to me. Or if he is still living.
I didn't find Roger's border crossing in 1936 but yes, he should have been single at that time. According to what I have been finding, Edna didn't die until Nov 28, 2011 in Red Deer, Alberta. Maybe she married for a third time after Roger's early death in 1967.

Looks like there may have been an obit for Roger in the Red Deer Advocate of Oct 4, 1967. I am able to read some of it saying he had 3 sons.
-
Hi Peggy
no worries about the marriages.
There is another tree on Geneanet owner : Temi NEILSON (bellgirl ) I can't view any living people of course so no help with any children. The 1962 electoral rolls doesn't show any children living with Roger or his wife. Even she is listed as Mrs Roger Neilson!
-
Thanks crisane for the heads-up about the Geneanet tree!
-
I sent a message to Temi Nielson on Geneanet before I saw the message that she was removed from WikiTree due to no activity since 2013.
-
Oh what a bummer. I wonder if she is on social media or whether she is no longer doing genealogy or has died.
Gowrie's tree has an obit for one of Roger Andrews sons Garnet Robert Neilson who died in 2014. It names Garnet's four children and his two brothers W and B who are also named in Garnet's marriage report in the Canada, Newspapers.com Marriage Index, 1800s-1999

Thank you very much, Sandra, for these obits. We lived in Spain for a while many moons ago.

Its "hot" today so nice to come in the shade and play "genealogy"
Are you ok with these Neilson's now ?

No, I am still struggling with some things. I am DNA related to a person called Gowrie, who lives in Glade, BC, is 60+ years old, and is not accepting messages. He is a 4th cousin as per my DNA info. I just have to think Gowrie is not his real name, possibly a screen name. There is a photo on his tree of Susan Mae Rogers, which is labelled "Grandmother's visit with Jean and Kay Welliver". Susan was married to Frederick Andrew Neilson in 1910 in Red Deer, Alberta. Roger Andrew Neilson would be one of her children. I have wondered if the label should say Great grandmother.
Susan is my second cousin, once removed.
I did put a message on his tree asking him to contact me as we are DNA related but nothing as yet. Last active this month but says researches almost every day.

Hey, Sandra, I didn't realize Kay Welliver was the same person as Kellogg. Thanks very much for his and his son's obits. They don't help with Gowrie but they do help very much with the tree.
I was looking around for Gowrie. I found a Brian Neilson in Fruitvale, BC which is in the same part of the world as Glade. He would be a grandson to Susan Mae, being a son of Roger Andrew. He was still alive in 2014 when his brother Garnet died. Garnet was born 1939 and Brian after that. I could be on a wild goose trail but it's a thought.

thanks again. Great addition to the tree. Another thought for Gowrie is if Edna Ina remarried and had another child after Roger died in 1967. Still wondering about Brian though.

The brother "B" was in Strathmore in 1967 - obit of Rodger Andrew Nielson.
A "B" and "L" still show in Strathmore. Canada 411.

Ok. Thanks.
