Hi
I have a relative with possibly a bigamous marriage!
The gentleman's second 'wife' is, from 1891 census onwards called Mary Ann. She consistently gives her birth place as Luddenden Foot and her birth year as either 1854 or 1855.
In the 1921 census, she gives her age as 66 and 6 months which gives me early 1855 or late 1854 as her birth.
On the birth certificates of all 4 of her children she gives her maiden name as Fielden (I've also tried Fielding). Given that her 'husband' is definitely already married, this name may be an untruth.
In a nutshell, how do I find the 1851/1861/1871 census for Luddenden Foot? I have found some of 1851 and 1871 but it appears to only be part of the village and I can't find 1861 at all.
Also, any other info on Luddenden Foot, Fielden etc in 1855. Am I correct that the church wasn't yet built? Would they have gone into Halifax?
TIA

From GenUKI:
"LUDDENDEN FOOT, a hamlet in the townships of Warley and Midgeley, and parish of Halifax, liberty of Wakefield, 4½ miles W. of Halifax, 7½ from Todmorden."
-
For 1861 see piece 3295, page 11, folio 130 and the following page.

There were Fieldens in Mytholmroyd in the mid 1850s. Just a couple of miles along the Calder valley from Luddenden Foot. James Fielden, draper; and the Fielden Brothers, cotton spinners.
-
Again, from GenUKI:
"MYTHOLM, a few houses in the township of Stansfield, and parish of Halifax; 5 miles W. of Halifax."
"MYTHOLMROYD BRIDGE, a hamlet at the junction of the townships of Wadsworth, Erringden, Sowerby, and Midgley, and parish of Halifax; 6 miles W. of Halifax."
