Trying to find what happened to a Bertram Glanville Spicer of Aberdeen.
He was on the 1911 Census, but not the 1921 Census - The family are listed, not Betrram
Listed on a 1905 valuation, roll, thats where trail is cold. WW1 was possible but no CWGC or Scotlands People Death (so may have been overseas?)
Can anybody help?
-
Where & when was he born - nothing on SP for that name
Is he the 1880 birth in Watford?

Thanks Everybody
I see he died in 1953, one of his daughters wenet to the USA in 1956 (Sybil Spicer) and she visited an address in New Jersey. 10 Bradford Avenue Upper Montclair New Jersey
Is there any way to find who stayed there in the 50s?
-
As an aside, if it's the same Sybil Spicer, she was a teacher at Middlefield School in Aberdeen during WW2. She was seriously injured in a bombing raid on 21st April 1943 while on fire watch duty, and lost a leg as a result. She had a prosthetic fitted, and returned to teaching afterwards.
Hang on - I think you'll know this already! Just looked at the profile name.
-
Yes, done a fair bit of research on Sybil
Lacking (1) photos of Sybil
(2) reason Bertram went to USA, and it appears never came back or nobody from the family visited.
(3) reason for Sybil to go to USA in 1956 - New jersey, when Father died in 1953

Winning a prize in 1905:
15 November 1905: Aberdeen Press and Journal
CONFERENCE OF SCOTTISH HAIR-DRESSERS.
ABERDEEN HAIRDRESSER A PRIZE-WINNER.
A conference of delegates from the Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen branches of the Incorporated Guild of Wigmakers, Hairdressers, and Perfumers of Great Britain and Ireland was held on Monday afternoon in the Carlton Hotel, Edinburgh.
...[chunk removed]...
In the evening the first competition for the Scottish hairdressers' cup, presented by Mr Edwin J. Paes, Edinburgh, took place in the Queen's Hall. There were fourteen competitions, nine of whom were from Edinburgh, four from Glasgow, and one from Aberdeen. The competitors were allowed forty-five minutes, and the style of dressing was the modern. The jury adjudicated the prizes as follows— 1 Mr A. B. Ironside, Dalry Road. Edinburgh; 2 Mr Bertram G. Spicer. Aberdeen: 3 Mr James Watson, Glasgow.

She's one of these people you feel there should be a photo of somewhere! Unfortunately, I can't help with the other parts of the query though. Nothing in any of the newspapers?
-
Did have a possible picture in the papers from 1964 I think it was a teachers reunion, but the scan is poor. I did get in touch with the press archives, but they don't have the original. My contact there is going to look for any specific pics.
The Aberdeen archives are moving, and they will not be about until the end of the month.
originally in the section in my published book I had it as a few one liners, but have now expanded it into a section on Sybil alone. This is for my "superbooK" as it will cover books 1 and 2 in a single book.
The search goes on........

A picture has been found
Just working with the source on the price (newspaper). Bargaining with the fact I have provided the paper with photos and helicopter flights in the past.
The photo is from 1978, but didn't appear in the press.
This will help my book greatly in securing the picture!
