I have windows 11. I have suddenly started to get a mini picture of the screen I am in at the bottom of the screen labelled desktop 1 together a blank labelled New desktop This is very annoying. How do I get rid of it?

It sounds as if you may have Task View Active   

From Microsoft

It's built in to Windows 11. If you hover the mouse at the bottom of the screen you get the desktop icons that you see. Task view doesn't change it. I don't know if you can stop it - except by not hovering the pointer down there.
