As a child many years ago I had lunch with my parents here. With the proliferation of such houses for grand wedding receptions I would love to find it. I roughly know the region of Kent would be Ashford. Have looked at a few of these sites so far but no luck.Iknow it is a longshot is it worth carrying on ?

It's going to be difficult to pin this one down with so little to go. There were many large houses in the area.
Kempton Manor in nearby Hothfield springs to mind.

There is also the much grander Eastwell Manor

Was it a manor on a really grand scale eg Godinton, west of Ashford? Appears to have been in private hands until the nineties?
-
To me manor house is a feudal family home on a large scale where local dweller worked on the land in return for pay. The house owner would usually be a wealthy businessman with interests in London. Probably makes it far grander than the house we went to which was probably built for a solicitor originally. I remember it had a long drive .It may well have not survived the construction of the Channel Tunnel or may be pro tested by the current owner.
If I find what I think may be it I will tell you if it is still there.

Many of the Kent manor houses are old, e.g.

some have been rebuilt whilst others have fallen into disrepair and demolished.
A better idea of the location would help.

Searching for properties for sale might be useful

Thanks for that. Savills have a lot for sale or recently sold but , no sign of it. a friend sends me past copies of Country Life occasionally so I may come across it sometime

It's also worth searching Google images

Looked at them as well. So difficult if only land Registry kept a database of owners linked to properties.

If you know a name you could try the Kent Archives catalogue
https://www.kentarchives.org.uk/olboxes/our-online-catalogue/
or old newspapers.
