There would only be a parish record in a church at this dates. Certificates didn't start until civil registration on 1st July 1837. Have you any idea of the location?
-
Yes, that's right.
Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire. Maria was from Lindridge, I understand, but it's hard for me to confirm, and I don't have her last name.
-
Have you got the couple on a census? If so what are their approx ages?
-
Who is Jane Dayus - their daughter?
Did she have brothers and sisters - if so and one was born late enough you may be able to find mothers name.
-
Maria died in 1829, Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire. Charles is the son of John Morris = Maria.
Maria born 1800 approx., John older, looks like, maybe 1787.
Most likely, John Morris remarried in 1830 to Margaret Kirk with issue, Kimbolton, Hereford.
Son (of John = Maria), Charles Morris b. 1824, appears on the 1841, age 15, w/a relative Thomas Morris, b. 1816, age 25, from Cleobury Mortimer.
Jane Dayus (1826-1912) = Charles Morris b. 1824, common-law-wife, Chelmarsh. Charles died in 1850 c.
Charles's siblings: John Morris b. 1826 (1851, Cleobury North, servant, location on 1861?), George b. 1828 infant death. Later 1/2 siblings through John, father's remarriage.
Jane and Charles's daughter (possibly) is Louisa Dayus mmn (1848-1922) w/issue (my line). No full siblings for Louisa. Later 1/2 siblings through Jane, mother's subsequent common law husband(s)).

possible
13 Jul 1823 marriage
Stockton-On-Teme, St Andrew
John Morris and Maria James
note says - groom of Kimbolton. Kimbolton mentioned reply 3
or am I wasting my time as I see that the original post has been changed
-
This looks promising!! Excited!! :). I may have been updating the original post, as this is pretty much in live time and I just learned how to do the link to another post too.
If this is the same man, the groom here (John Morris = Maria James) also remarried in Kimbolton in 1830 (to Margaret Kirk).
(My) Charles Morris b. 1824, would have been born soon after the marriage.
That all seems hopeful to me. As an aside, my brother is also on the look out for the DNA match to enable us to finalize the matter eventually.
Thanks so much!!!

John Morris (Knowlton) = Maria James (1800-1929) (Lindridge), m. 1823, Stockton on Teme, Worcestershire.
Now I'm looking for the connection to the marriage couple of the witnesses! :-\
1.Sarah Crance b 1793
2.Richard Travell/Travell/Travelle, a mason whose name had various spellings b 1803.
John Morris = Margaret Kirk (Clifton on Teme) m. August 5, 1830, Knowlton, Hereford (2nd marriage). Is the marriage certificate available to see:
1.John's parents? ???
2.Who the witnesses are? ???
3.I believe Margaret's parents are: David = Dorethy Kirk.
Morris family eventually in Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire, also masons.
This to clarify 3x gg Charles Morris, b. 1824, Cleobury Mortimer = Jane Dayus, daughter, Louisa. (via DNA eventually).
Any thoughts welcome!

There were no marriage certificates that far back I'm afraid just parish entries of marriage which didn't name any parents.

Okay, thanks, L
