Title: Kilroy & O'Neil Leeds early 1920's
Post by: Lance Matthews on Friday 14 March 25 11:14 GMT (UK)
I know that Sheila Kilroy was born in Leeds in 1925. I am looking for information on her parents and siblings. Not sure of father's name and where and when born. His wife was an O'Neil.

You can look for a marriage for her parents using Free BMD index.

Put in the surnames Kilroy and O’Neil around the time of her birth.

You can search for births of any siblings in the same way using those two surnames.

Note her birth is registered with mother’s name O’Neill.  The birth certificate will confirm parents names.

Didn't you check free bmd for that info?  Parental marriage easily found on freebmd.  You can use that info to find them on the 1911 census to find birth details etc

Thank you. I have gone through all the normal BMDs. Perhaps the only answer will be a birth certificate for Sheila Kilroy, born Leeds l1925.

What couldn’t you find on Free BMD?

Remember to use the double l for O’Neill

Fantastic, I had gone through all the normal avenues. Just not far enough back. Just need to find Kenneth Wilkinson's parents and sibling records. Kenneth was born Leeds 1922.

Hi
His parents are Albert Cuthbert Wilkinson born 1887 Ancaster Lincolnshire and Elsie Richmond born 1897 Leeds.
They married at Leeds June 1919.
Eldest Lilie Mona born 5.4.1920 at Kings Norton ,Birmingham.
And it looks like they moved back to Leeds after that.
There are some possible younger siblings but they could just still be alive and they are not together in 1939 so it may not be all family.

Hi
Going back to the O'Neills.
John O'Neill was an Army pensioner. His pension record is on FindMyPast. He signed up 1865 and left 1869 before being called back until 1885 .That's why he moved around so much.
Unlike the usual records of the time his pension record is quite full ,a description ,mention of his 1879 marriage at St josephs Guildford to Sarah Breech ,lots of postings and times in prison for his misdemeanours .Place of birth in the County of Cork at Ballyhead ,Kinsale .Apparently he drank a lot.And over stayed his leave.
Well worth taking a look .I can pass a copy on if you haven't got FindMyPast.
