Good evening everyone.
I'm going through a part of my tree that I haven't worked on for many many years. And now that I'm looking at it, I've noticed there are a lot more resources and data sets online than when I worked on this branch last.
I've noticed that one ancestor I MIGHT have overlooked something. I only had 2 days at the Derbyshire RO years ago, and now with parish registers online I'm questioning my research.
William Harlow married Amy Aldred at Duffield on 12 Aug 1782. They had one child baptised at Atlow in 1785, Charles. The rest of the children were baptised at Breadsall. Hannah 1784, John 1790, George 1792, Edward 1795 and twins Mary and Sarah 1799.
Looks like there were complications at the birth as Amy was buried 20 Sep 1799 with Sarah following on 3 Oct and Mary on the 6th. Looks like William remarried in 1803 to Ellen Cauldwell at All Saints Church in Derby. And died in 1845, and buried at Breadsall.
The above is accurate, BUT..... I had initially had Williams baptism down as 22 Feb 1761 at Ashbourne. But now, I've found another possible baptism at Bradley for 19 May 1760.
I've tried to follow what happened to the Bradley William, but cant find anything of use.
Is anyone able to help me follow this Bradley clue, or give me some pointers how I would differentiate the two? Been working on this all afternoon using Ancestry, FindMyPast, FreeREG and Familysearch.
Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

You've probably found this but, William of Bradley appears to have an older sister Mary baptised 1758 in Bradley. Annoyingly baptism records only give father's name (Thomas) so can't confirm same mother. There is a marriage between a Thomas Harlow and a Hannah Hudson in Ashbourne on 2 June 1757 which is a possibility. There is a burial for a George Harlow on 05 May 1765 in Ashbourne s/o Thomas and Hannah. (Can't find baptism for George) Could be coincidence of names but if same couple, the family has moved to Ashbourne. There is a Thomas Harlow buried in Ashbourne on 17 Feb 1818 age 84, making him right sort of age to have married in 1757.

Thanks Lizzie. Im afraid this one is probably lost to the mists of time. With the baptism just a year apart, I think its highly unlikely this is going to be solved.
Appreciate your time looking at this for me!
David.

If they followed naming patterns the first son being Charles usually named after the paternal grand father.
IF they followed the patterns then William's father is Charles

I wondered that, but there is a three year gap between marriage and known first child's baptism, so possibly one in between that we haven't found yet

True.

Notes:
Ages were rounded in 1841 so William may be 80 or he could be 78 rounded to 80 or 82 rounded down to 80.
A wider search for a baptism I think.

Clutching at straws.
There is a baptism for a George Harlow at Duffield -18 February 1783 parents are listed as Thomas and Amee.
I couldn't find a marriage for a Thomas Harlow to an Amy, could this be a clerical error?

Have you tried the local archives?
William was a Tailor he had to serve an apprenticeship somewhere.

That could be the George buried a few years later in Ashbourne that I found earlier but hadn't got baptism, but I was looking in Ashbourne a few weeks / months before burial.

All I can seem to find is William Harlow of Breadsall (which matches up with childrens baptisms) taking on a Josiah Wallis as an apprentice on 27 Mar 1798.
Thank you!
