Hello
I recently bought a copy of the Will of Bilton Metcalfe (my Great x 8 Grandfather) of Leeds dated 1708. It is a comprehensive Will and names his wife and children. One child who I had previously not been aware of was a John Metcalfe.
I have found a John Metcalfe of Leeds apprenticed for 7 years in 1710 to a Joseph Thurlstone, Clothdrawer. What is probably the same John took on an Apprentice himself in 1718, John a Clothworker of Leeds.
From the date of his Apprenticeship I think John was probably born in the period 1695 to 1697, this would fill a gap of other children baptised to Bilton Metcalfe.
It appears that the registers for this period are not available online but there is an indexed transcript, Thoresby Society Volume 10 available that covers this period.
I wonder if anybody might have access to this transcript and if so please look if there is a baptism of a John Metcalfe in this period.
Many thanks for your help.
Bob

The Topcliffe entry is not part of my family.
Many thanks
