Good Afternoon friends,
Would someone be able to do a look up for me please.
I'm looking for anything on Albert J Stickley who married Ann Burton at Wellington in Shropshire in March 1922.
I believe the J, is Joseph, and I believe he was born at Aston, Warwickshire 1893.
Thanks in advance

Have you used freebmd to find his birth? www.freebmd.org.uk
Use GRO online to find his mothers maiden name then use freebmd to find his parents marriage
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp
All censuses to 1911 are free to search here - this link was given to you on your last post

The 1921 census would seem to support your theory. He is named as Albert Joseph, the son of Joseph, and has two sisters - Elsie and Evelyn. The 1939 Register suggests a birth date of 28 May 1893.

His birth is easily found on freebmd

Although his birth reg shows a mmn - there is no parental marriage. Take a look at the 1901 entry then work back to 1891. Several childrens births all with mmn Tarver
Margaret Tarver was b 1866 - see freebmd - no Tarver/Stickley marriage

Hi
It looks like Joseph Stickley had the following children.
Annie Stickley born 28.3.1886 Gro as Strickley June 1886 Aston
William David Mar 1888- June 1951 Birmingham Gro Strickley and mother Sarver.
Gertrude May June 1891 all following mmn Tarver
Albert Joseph Sep 1893
Lily Dec 1895
Elsie June 1898 (possibly baptised as Alice 3.4/20.4 1898 At Aston Brook St Mary)
Eveline June 1901
Joseph Henry June 1903 buried Witton Sep qtr 1904.
There is also a Clara Dec 1884 mmn Sarver at Aston so where they already together in the 1880s?
Buried Key Hill Cemetery Dec qtr 1884
That would make the full set of 9.
Seems strange there was no marriage.
Albert Joseph Stickley seems to have joined the Army before WWI.
Private Royal Warwickshire Regiment 1911 census age 17.
WWI in the Labour Corps no 354054 also.
Qualified for the 1914 Star as in Army 1.11.1914
A few things in the paper
Shrewsbury Chronicle 13.7.1923 Albert seems to have had his watch stolen
Welling Journal 2.1.1926 drunk and disorderly at Oakengates .So a Very Happy New Year
Shrewsbury Chronicle 23 Feb 1934 Albert Stickley of Marquis Terrace Ketley Bank fined for riding a bicycle without a front light at night 7 shillings and 6d
Grandparents were Joseph Stickley and Mary Sarah Humphreys Gold married Aston Juxta 1.5.1858
and William Tarver and Rebecca Hughes married 6.9.1857 St Martins Birmingham.
The Stickleys split up by 1871 so seems there is a pattern for the two Joseph Stickleys Senior and Junior. Joseph and Mary Sarah both were home with their parents in 1871.

Hi,
Talking about Margaret Tarver, I found she was Joseph Stickleys servant, on an earlier census, and it seems she became more than that when his wife Mary JH Stickley died.
I haven't found her death yet though....I had found that her surname was Gold though.
The people I'm looking at this family for, are both 90 plus, and are getting a little frail now, will be so pleased with the info you've all helped to find.
Thanks all.
