Title: Barnsley Cemetery Records
Post by: davidwgrobinson on Thursday 06 March 25 10:33 GMT (UK)
Hi,

I just contacted Barnsley Bereavement to see if I could go back and check there burials.  I went 5 year ago and they were happy to help for free.

Now there charging £5 per look up (first one free) and I have a lot to look up.

I know they are charging to use the online service as well (whoever runs it).

Does anyone know if the records are kept elsewhere?

It seems everyone is going this way.  All the councils were helpful when I started, now it seems the records have become to complicated for me to read.

Hi Carole,

I have, unfortunately, most of the people I'm looking for didn't have headstones.  When I went to the cemetery book before I could photograph the page and see the names either side.

Then it was a case of just walking up and down til I found a name and worked it out from there.

I do wonder if the history society do a CD like Lincoln did, the Lincoln one was excellent.   I'll have a look now.
