Title: George Ride married to Hannah and George Ride married to Hannah Hunt
Post by: Jason Jase on Tuesday 04 March 25 03:45 GMT (UK)
So, I am sorting out two families that have been mashed together on Family search and multiple family trees. I have separated the children with some effort. The parents' names are the same and are both from Derbyshire around the same time. I am now trying to figure out which Hannah is my 4x great grandmother. I am also trying to find the maiden name of the other Hannah.

As far as I can tell one of the Hannah's is Hannah Hunt

---------
My 2x great grandmother, Easter Ride as a teen is found with her parents in the 1841 census

------------------------------
So, I want to find out if this is Hannah Hunt or another Hannah

There is a marriage for a Hannah Marston to George Ride but it was in 1810?
Name: George Ride
Marriage Date: 25 Jun. 1810
Parish: Horsley
Spouse: Hannah Marston

The only other record I can find is a baptism record for Hannah Ride. Born 26th July 1828 and baptised 26th Jan 1829 in Duffield. Her parents are George Ride and Hannah Marston formally of Belper

Not sure if this helps

In the 1841 Census. The occupation of George Ride was that of a Wheelwright. He and Hannah (Hunt) had 9 children.

1841 George Ride and Hannah (Marston) had 6 children, one of which was Easter. His occupation was a Nail Maker.

I think that fits well with the GRO births I posted - with the youngest of  George and Hannah (Marston) children being Joseph and the birth cert confirms his mother's maiden name and father's occupation as a nailor

Can't see this family together post 1841 which may be where the confusion arises    So Easter/Esther's mother was Hannah Marston

Thank you.

It seems everyone with Hannah Hunt including myself had her married to the wrong George Ride.

I knew something wasn't right her but only recently was able to find the other 1841 census proving it.

this is going to take a while to correct in Family search, Ancestry etc.

Yes, George Ride the Nailer was my direct ancestor who is not married to Hannah Hunt

1851 Derbyshire living in her son Williams house
derbyshire line 14 page 6 Folio 2144/615 Reg # HO107

in 1851

she is listed as a widow so George must have died between 1841 and 1851.
She is listed as a mother-in-law not mother in the transcript the original is on my family search I can't view it.

Hi

Further confirmation that the Mother's maiden name was Marston, are the following Bpts. Although constantly written as Marson:-

 https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/2972/?name=_RIDE&birth=_belper&count=50&keyword=nailor

Hannah Marston = George Ride 1810 in Horsley Derbyshire.

Hi
Sorry forgot to say that Ester/Easter is listed on Ancestry
Bpt  19th October 1823 dau of George & Hannah.  They have the Bpt at St. Peter's Belper this is incorrect St. Peters was not built until 1825.

The actual Bpt took place at St. John's Belper, this was built c 1250 for Bpt & Burials with marriages taking place at Duffield.
