Hi
I've got my photos in a bit of a muddle. I know I have a photo of Sgt William Holland, a member of the Royal Marines in the 1880s and a distant relative (there is a separate post in another forum re this gentlemen). I was wondering if anyone here can identify this uniform please as maybe being a Royal Marines one or maybe something else. Many thanks. Paul Crook

The flaming grenades on the gorget (collar patch) indicate the uniform of a soldier in the Royal Artillery (see image below), although it's not clear from the image whether that might be Field or Garrison Artillery. It's not a Royal Horse Artillery uniform as it lacks the frogging on the chest.
The Royal Marines Artillery also wore a flaming grenade in a similar position, but against a grey or cream facing.
