Title: Baptism records for Clackmannan, 1735
Post by: Higpoidius on Sunday 02 March 25 14:04 GMT (UK)
Have come across this page of parish records for baptisms in Clackmannan, Clackmannanshire, 1735 and notice that after every entry there is what seems to be 'Pautt' or possibly 'Paull'? As there are Latin expressions on the same page, just wondering if this is related to a Latin expression or just the name of the officiating cleric? Any suggestions welcome.
Many thanks.

Hi,

It’s a bit fuzzy, but I think it is probably Law(fu)ll, so the parents were married. A fairly common entry in parish records.

      Happy to be corrected.

Thanks David Nicoll, that makes perfect sense. I can see that very clearly now!
