Hello,
I have the census records for Sarah (b. c. 1796, Hayes) but can’t find where I’ve saved them. She was living in Ickenham for all the censuses from 1841 to 1881. She died in the almshouses in 1886, as I have the death certificate. Could anyone please check for me where exactly — if it is given on any of the censuses — in Ickenham she lived? I can get to Ickenham quite easily so am planning a short trip.
Best wishes,
Adam

1841 no street name
1851 Back Lane
1861 Alms House
1871 Back Lane
1881 Back Lane
No property numbers for any of them I am afraid Adam

Thanks very much rosie99! Apparently Back Lane is now Swakeleys Road, which is also where the almshouses are.

I saw Swakeleys Road mentioned when googling, there are a few articles in the papers on the almshouses
Was her husband James

That’s right. There are articles on his suicide in 1840.

Yes, that is what I had seen. How sad but as he was working for a relation of the Gell family that is probably how Sarah got her Almshouse. I wonder if someone involved with Almshouses now would be able to give any information on Sarah and her tenancy.
