Janelle,
Check the spelling of "CYFALLI" in line one against the original (Y Llan 18 Jan 1895) before using google.
Pob lŵc,

The Llan item mentions a "Hugh Jones" and a "Robert Griffith".
I have found an obit. for a "Robert Griffith, Prenteg, Tremadog" in the "Cyfaill Eglwysig", pub Sep 1898. It's a monthly, Welsh language, religious periodical of the established Church. Can provide a translation.
Struggling to find details of a "Hugh Jones".

"Distributors of the "CHURCH FRIEND" - Mr Hugh Jones, Mynydd Glas y Garn has been appointed a distributor of the Friend for Dolbenmaen and Mr Robert Griffith for Prenteg. Here are two ardent and diligent church goers. In these two big, scattered parishes blessed were there a hundred of the same spirit."
(Must admit not too comfortable with last sentence!!)

There's 6 households with the address Mynydd Glas in 1901. One is Hugh Jones aged 70, stonemason from Neulog, Anglesey. Then there's mother and daughter Margaret (60) and Mary (27), a few doors down. Margaret Parry, also at Mynydd Glas, was previously a Mrs Jones, but doesn't appeat to have had a son called Hugh

the last sentence is mistranslated by google:
Gwyn fyd na fuasai yn y ddau blwyf mawr gwasgarog
hyn gant o'r un ysbryd a hwy.
should be:
The world would be a better place if they had the spirit of these two sparsely distributed parishes.

Thanx everyone,
I appreciate your replies.
Interesting to know what he was doing and the flavour of journalism then.
Hugh Jones, b 1866 probably at Penmorfa, was father of Hugh Owen Jones b 1886 at this particular place in the newspaper ;)
Hugh’s parents were yet another Hugh b 1838 probably Bangor and Margaret Morris b 1840 at Penmorfa.
We have DNA matches with this family, not Jones though, and want to be able to find evidence of this Margaret Morris from northern Wales being related to David Morris b 1830 around Bedwellty who came to South Australia.
The hunt goes on ;)
