I'm hoping someone may be able to colourise this photo of my late father-in-law. John Allan Clegg served as a peacekeeper in Palestine in the 1930s then went on to serve as a military policeman in WW11. The uniform is red with black trimmings.
I have his medals and wish to incorporate this photo in the framing of them.
Many thanks

A go from me.

I prefer Skippy's version for its accuracy with regard to the colour of the tunic. However loord74's version has the correct colours for the collar and epaulettes. If anyone else wanted to improve the buttons they should appear like the image below. Also, both versions so far have reproduced part of the chinstrap incorrectly. The small strip of white within the area which should otherwise be black, below the white hatband, is actually the shine on the black patent leather of the chinstrap.
(This comment was amended at 8.20pm on 24 Feb to remove an unfair, implied criticism of loord74's version)

OK Andy..
I don't know why this obvious disregard for the restoration I did, for the record the colors and general shape of the uniform are available on the internet, the collar and shoulder pads are black, maybe I couldn't put the logo on the Cap because I wasn't sure of the accuracy, I say it in general , unfortunately there is no appreciation for much of the work I did, so I have decided to leave this site and will not restore any pictures again.

loord74,
I'm sorry if you feel I was unduly criticising your work. I appreciate how much time and skill these processes take, and for what it's worth I think your version is excellent in the way that you have rendered the skin tones. And as you say, the collar and epaulettes in your version are the correct colour.
I have amended my original comment because it was unfair.

Oh my! I wasn't expecting all this wonderful work. I can't thank all of you enough for your fantastic efforts. I would never have believed the photo could ever look like these.
I can't wait to show my husband (who is having chemo) these photos of his father. I'm sure they will bring a tear to his eye ((they did for me).
Thank you so very much, kind people.

..... I have decided to leave this site...
So sorry you're leaving Rami. Your restorations are brilliant. I think, due to the advanced techniques you use, it can be difficult for most to understand and appreciate what goes into them. I'm glad I took the time to ask.

loord74 - I was very impressed with the quality of your work, the end result is amazing, you can even see the whiskers on his face. My partner's great uncle was in the Coldsteam Guards, we don't have a photo of him sadly.
