Hi,
Is anyone else researching the Brittons from sussex in 1800's. All I know is they were gypsies.
Is there a thread for them? how do I find it?
Thanks
Louise

Hi
"From Sussex" - does that mean he was born in Sussex or that he just lived there?
There is an 1871 entry for a William Britton aged 70 living in Sussex but b Landport Hampshire - wife is Elizabeth
There are 3 other 1871 entries living in Sussex but born elsewhere
Can you give a bit more info please? If you have him on a census - please post details of entry

Hi,
Sorry for being so vague. He was born (I think) in Portsea, Hampshire and then moved to Sussex. In 1851 he is listed as living in Petworth and being a Hawker. He is married to Elizabeth and had children John and Henry (I couldnt find others although I am sure there is). I think I found his probate saying he died 21 Aug 1876 in Oving, Sussex. But he is listed as a gentleman and has £2000 estate. Is this the same person??
I found him in the newspapers saying he was part of a gypsy tribe.
I just wondered if anyone else had him in there tree or any descendants and if anyone knew anymore?
Thanks
Best Wishes
Louise
