Hello,
can you decipher the surname of the witness, forename Squire on the attached certificate for me.
Regards,
Janet

It looks like Betsy to me.

I am looking for the surname of Squire, the name above Betsy.
-
It looks like Rehae to me which is a USA surname
-
It's so badly formed it might be almost anything, fairly short (5 or 6 letters?) beginning with B, R or D ?
I would say it has h or d or l in the middle, and there are no letters with descenders.
Perhaps try looking for individuals named Squire in the 1891 census for Morley?
Or anyone with that name who married in the same church around that time?
Or browse for any other marriage in the same Morley register that he might have witnessed?
Or try the newspapers?
-
It could be Melrose.
-
Good morning,
thank you for your suggestions. Bookbox, the only suggestion which I have not tried are entries in the newspapers.
Regards.
