Hello
Can anyone help with looking up an article dated 03 February 1877 concerning Daniel Docherty, Hawker, living at Kessock Street. Iwanted to know if mentioned his wife's name of Mary Joyce
Many thanks

Inverness Advertiser 3rd Feb 1877 reported the case. Daniel was accused of malicious mischief. He’d been breaking windows and “otherwise conducting himself in a manner unbecoming a young man who like him had the world before him.” He was described as “occasionally residing” in Kessock St. No mention of any wife. Was found guilty and fined 10/- or 7 days imprisonment. Sheriff mentioned 2 previous convictions and warned Daniel to grow up and get a better occupation.

A hawker in 1855 wouldn’t be a “young man” with the world before him in 1877 would he?
