Title: Ship passenger lists lookup-request
Post by: thedesman1 on Saturday 08 February 25 13:50 GMT (UK)
Hi

Patrick McLoughlin (1872-1945) and Bridget Brogan (1869-1938).  Both were born in County Mayo, Ireland and married on 3 June 1901 in New York City at The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary, 7 State Street.  They then emigrated to Glasgow, Scotland shortly after and started a family.

I would really like to see if they appear on any ship passenger lists (inward/outward) travelling from Ireland to New York and from New York back to Ireland/Scotland.  I'm not sure which year they would have travelled but I assume 1901?

When was the first child born in Scotland? That would help to narrow down the time frame

There are many early passenger lists for the name Patrick McLoughlin in that time frame.  Sadly they do not give enough information to positively identify your Patrick.

It looks like they might have left NYC on the Germanic on June 5, 1901.

They may have then travelled to Glasgow by steamer.
This was in the Liverpool Daily Post 21 June 1901 and gives an idea of the 'ordinary' fare in steerage (the cheapest option) for a single trip as 5s 6d, so 11 shillings in total for the two of them.

Great find, thank you so much!

Thank you, though this has been a joint effort, the other posts in both your threads enabled me to find them returning. Everyone contributed something for others to build on.

The search was not helped by the transcription having 'Cat' rather than Pat ( I've added an alternate on Ancestry and in the fullness of time it may filter through to the search
Bridget's first name was on the passenger list as 'Bridg' - and correctly transcribed as such, so that is where using wild cards e.g. Brid* can often bring up a correct result.
