Hi all,
Can anyone that has a bit of spare time jump on to BDM New South Wales and have a search for this family's documents for me please?
I have already looked and found what i think is the key to my question however id like an unbiased eye to see if i am going in with blinkers on and missing something or not.
Mrs M Carter 98 (living so i cant give away to much) is the only daughter of:
John and Rita Carter of Newcastle
I have found what i believe is their marriage cert which reveals the maiden name of the bride as the possible surname of the father of my illegitimate grandmother
So if you find a marriage record could you post the record number and the brides maiden name so i can see if I'm correct or not
Thank you so much for your help
-
17249/1921 CARTER JOHN L STYMAN RITA HAMILTON
Number Groom Bride Location
-
I have no idea what your question is but there is only one marriage in NSW between a John CARTER and any woman named Rita between 1788 and 1970.
Debra :)

Like Debra, I have no idea from your post what you want to know.
However as you call her Mrs. Carter, this is her married name, and you really want her maiden name if you are looking for her parents.

I apologize in my excitement last night i didn't explain myself well, like you i could only find one marriage.
I was asking someone else to double check as i want to make sure i wasn't 'finding what i wanted to see' to break down a brick wall and ignoring something i should be seeing hence asking an objective crowd with no link to my problem. Does that make better sense? LoL

Carter is her maiden name i purposely didn't use her married name as to make her harder to identify, it is actually her parents marriage and mothers maiden name that I'm trying to confirm

The marriage found by David G02 was
17249/1921 CARTER JOHN L STYMAN RITA HAMILTON
There is a birth of a child to this couple listed on NSWBMD
1923, reg 18892 at Lambton
Isabel CARTER
Parents: JOHN L, RITA
So if this is your "Mrs Carter" it suggests that the mother's surname before she married John Carter was STYMAN.
However, there is a death for this child
1923, reg #6545 at Lambton
Isabel M Carter
Death Place Lambton, New South Wales
Parents: John L, Rita
Registration Number 6545
She is buried at Sandgate Cemetery, Newcastle,
Plot, Wesleyan_Methodist; Section FSW; Plot 59

Looks like she wasn't the only child of the parents after all but the only surviving child. thank you for finding that information.
now to think of a gentle way to pass that on to the family :(

Iv just ordered Rita Carters Death Cert Transcript and her Mother's Evelyn/Eveline Amelia Styman also.
Hopefully I'm barking up the correct tree to confirm what i think is true

I am wondering....
Where does the illegitimacy come in?
Sue
-
Frederick and Eveline/Evelyn Amelia were married in 1879
1879 #4027, Newcastle
Frederick Styman, Eveline A Westaway
Marriage Place Newcastle, New South Wales
9 children are listed on NSW BMD,
some registered in Hay, Morpeth and Sydney.
Note - need to be careful on TROVE as there seems to be Frederick with mentions in Newcastle ,and there are mentions of "F Styman" in Hay at the same time - seems to me like two separate men although this Frederick has obvious connections with Hay.

Hi Sue if you would like to read the whole story feel free look at my other tread in the DNA section, however long story short, Rita's older brother is the man we think might be the "dad" when the best DNA match came back with Rita as her mother it was a too good to be true moment.

Yes there is Frederick repeated multiple times in multiple generations in this family and they all had at least 6 kids, its like every son all wanted to honor the original Frederick of the 1800's in England

This is a card index regarding Christopher STYMAN whom you have mentioned in your other thread.
It is for the Liverpool State Hospital.
It gives possibly useful information about him which you may already have, of course.
1941
There is another image on the same link detailing his illnesses.
Links the image

Wow thank you so much!
I never knew such information existed to the public much less was available search
In the children section this confirms some of his children that i have already found, there are 2 that are not on there though, maybe due to not enough spaces?

Seriously i appreciate your help so much my family has been searching for this guy for a decade i can't tell you how happy my mum and my aunt were when i called them both this evening.
Obviously I'm still going to DNA my aunt to double check and we have one of my cousins test results due any moment from an aunt that has passed already to check if he hits with any of the Styman relatives also but fingers are crossed we have finally smashed or at least put a decent hole in this brick wall!!!!!!!

I'm sure by now you have done a good deal of research into Henry STYMAN.
He married Violet Beatrice on 15th Feb 1921 (#4332) and their first son arrived about 3rd Sept 1921.
Ronald Frederick.
I am checking to make sure you have seen this man's WW2 service record which has a photo of him.
As half brother to your lady, you can look for familial likenesses.

No doubt the site will restore in good time.
I can email the little photo to you if you are very keen. ;D

I suppose i had best go cook dinner and try again later in stead of keeping on getting frustrated ;)

A new day and NAA is being my friend again ;)
For anyone following along the thread here is the photo of the half brother to the illegitimate child i posted earlier.
What do you all think related yay or nay?

I wonder whether your lady's hair at the sides hid a possible trait?
Sue

You could be correct this is her and her husband.
