I will be giving it a miss!
After the last vaccination, I spent over 2 weeks in hospital,
The vaccination affects my hydrocephalus, and my balance goes haywire.
I collapsed twice after the last one, and needed help to regain my feet.
I have no wish to repeat the experience.
-
I'm the opposite. I'm iimmunosuppressed/compromised so could be severely ill if I didn't have them.

Hi
Had the Vaccine and had Covid. The vaccine was Hell .Still got the side effects. No thanks .
Covid was a breeze compared to that . I'm in the vulnerable group and I'd still prefer to get the virus.
Fed up of NHS pushing it.

It's up to you. :)
The worst I've had was a headache. Both my GP and consultants advise me to have it.
-
Have had a look at the qualification details it seems that on age grounds, only the over 75s qualify. Is that correct or have I missed something by not reading the whole document?
Having had Covid twice I'm keen to have any vaccinations offered but if I've read it correctly I won't qualify for this one.
-
It looks like 75, Roobarb.
Have you got any illness etc. that might make you more susceptible? Maybe you could talk to you GPs to see what they say.
Alternatively, if you have a spare £100, Boots seems to offer them:

Thanks Gadget, I'm asthmatic but not severely (usually based on whether you have been hospitalised) so haven’t previously qualified on that basis.
Wow, that's a lot of money for a vaccination! :o

It might be a good idea to chat to your GP. There seems to be low up take now so you might sneak in.
I hate to think how much I've cost the NHS for various treatments and scans and such over the last year. Thank goodness it's still there for us, despite all the problems. And thank goodness that I live within a mile of one of the best hospitals.
-
Another one!!! Definitely now into double-figures for me, as I've accepted every available offer.

It's a shame that the people who don't want one can't donate it to people who do. ;D
Unfortunately I've found it very difficult to be able to speak to my GP, even when I'm ill. Perhaps I'll try my luck with the receptionist.

Until the one last Autumn I got a vaccination as being “extremely vulnerable”. Suddenly despite nothing changing medication wise I was no longer extremely vulnerable and so no vaccination as I’m not 75 until December this year. Very strange.
-
Since last year I have been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease although I'm not close to being 75. Will be interesting to see what GP says and if hospital consultant has another view.
-
Maybe phone 119 when it's up again.
I'm 80 in a few weeks time and immune system is not very good. My problem is that I start a new round of treatment in March which will last until the summer at least. I'm trying to work out how to fit the vaccination in between treatments. Consultant says I should definitely have it.
-
Gadget, I have the feeling my consultant would also suggest it. Since I never got covid there's no way of knowing what would happen. I was told to get earlier boosters but space them in the middle of the injections I was getting every four weeks.
-
I'm sure I recall a list of 'conditions' that were eligible whatever the age. I'll see if I can find it.

This was from Last year's Spring vaccine info
Who should have the COVID-19 vaccine
The COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for people at increased risk from COVID-19.
You may be offered a COVID-19 vaccine in spring if you:
are aged 75 or over
are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health
condition or treatment
live in a care home for older adults
-
Wonder if youngest daughter will still be eligible as her immune system was weakened after chemo and radio.
-
I think may be discuss with 119, GP or oncology team :-\
-
Fortunately treatment was successful so she's been discharged as cured :) She's registered with same GP as us so will see what they say.

We have just had our emails and booked our appointments :)
-
Our appointments have been booked for April 7th with our GP. We have had all the Covid vaccinations offered, likewise the flu vaccinations. I hardly dare say this in case it puts the kibosh on it, but neither of us has had Covid or flu since having the vaccinations. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We didn't have any side effects either.
-
Thanks for another reminder to book my Covid jab - had all of them so far.
Not sure I should say this, but I have never had flu in all my 82 years AND I haven't had a cold since 2013, when I travelled to South Africa and arrived in Durban with the start of a cold. As I was going to be doing a lot of travelling with my friend she took me to the local pharmacists and after discussion of my medication, it was suggested that I take Echinacea. It certainly worked for me, and I always have a supply here in England, in case I develop the early symptoms. I just hope that I haven't upset the "apple cart". :-X :-X
