Title: Andrew Douglas CHRISTIE
Post by: trevalyn on Saturday 25 January 25 12:23 GMT (UK)
ANDREW DOUGLAS CHRISTIE died on 28 Feb 1918 after serving with the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry.  Aged 21, he was the son of Andrew and Mary Ann Christie (nee Taylor), both deceased. Andrew died in the Epidemic Hospital in Arbroath but his home address was at 1 Hayswell Road, Arbroath. He was survived by two sisters, Lily and Catherine.
Andrew Christie (sen) had been a grocer/provisions merchant in Arbroath.
Andrew Douglas Christie is entitled to War Grave commemoration if proof of burial can be established. Enquiries around Arbroath have so far far failed to uncover any record of a burial.
The Christie family appears to have been well established in the town. Can anyone help me to find where Andrew Douglas Christie is buried?
Any assistance would be gratefully received.

The Arbroath Herald of 8th March 1918 has an obituary which mentions that he was 'remembered' at a church service in Abbey Parish Church

rosie99.  Brilliant; that is very helpful. Is it possible that you could post the obituary article ?

Have you tried DeceasedOnline? The Angus Council burial records are available there, though there are gaps. https://www.deceasedonline.com/

Failing that you could try contacting Angus Council and telling them that you have tried DeceasedOnline. https://www.angus.gov.uk/births_deaths_and_ceremonies/burials_and_memorials/burial_records

The Courier, Saturday, March 9, 1918.  Page 2, column 5

No mention of burial unfortunately.

There is an intimation in The Courier, but again no burial.

There is the note on the death of father Andrew in 1917 - if anyone can see what that one says...?

Death 0 02 May 1917 • 26 Hayswell Road, Arbroath, Angus, Scotland

See Notes for Obituary in Arbroath Guide, 5th May 1917 Walter, son of Andrew and brother of Andrew Douglas, with family in Arbroath in 1911. Said to be an "inmate" (of what) when he registered the death of his father in 1917 and the death of his brother.

'Inmate' usually indicates someone who lived in the same household.
