Title: Martha Heiderstadt (nee Matthews) Geneva, Nebraska
Post by: blamcca on Thursday 23 January 25 02:20 GMT (UK)
Hi all! I'm not super familiar on navigating US records (most of my family are based in UK or Australia so I only pay for those subscriptions on Ancestry) - was hoping for some help on finding information on the life of Martha Matthews (born around 1821 in Ireland) who married Frederick Heiderstadt (1819-1914) in Monroe, Conneticut in 1850. They then lived at Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin for a while before ending up in Geneva, Nebraska where she died in 1890. I've found the relevant census records and some obituary information. Martha had come from Northern Ireland. In the 1880s two nieces Rebecca and Martha McClintock (daughters of Martha's sister Sarah) came to live with her in Geneva. I am trying to gather as much information as possible on this family. Immigration records, marriage, birth records of children, death records etc - any more extended family that may lead me back to Ireland? Any points in a good direction would be great.

There is a tree with Martha & her family that has a lot of sources mentioned - https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/L4QB-Q89  It's worth double checking them, but at least a few that I looked at seem to fit.

Passenger lists from that time don't have much personal detail and aren't always easily found.

This family appears to have been well researched and there is loads of information on them in trees and at Find A Grave.

Are you looking for information about her, before she married Frederick?

Hi all - thanks for fleshing out a bit of information. Yes have found all the other trees on ancestry and find a grave. Lots of information on Frederick and Martha's children!
I'm not convinced of the Baegnelstown birth in 1821 for Martha - lots of trees then seem to have her as a daughter of a John and Martha Matthews who ended up in Shoreditch, London. No trees link any sources that make sense to me. Was hoping to find some more information that would lead me back to more family in Ireland.
