I have found this woman on the 1911 and 1901 census but have failed to find her on the 1891 or previous census
I have found her previous name was Partland - but this is not her maiden name as she was widow on her marriage in 1892
her elder son is also given the name Dockney - though he was born in 1890, possibly he was the couples son or illegitimate?
Her date of death is 1930 and date of birth 1863/64
I have found her in the workhouse in 1901, 1902 and 1903 in Withington
I have found her on the 1901 census with her two sons and three lodgers in the property
Any pointers would be helpful please

Do those census entries give her full name as you have it there?
You mention she is in the workhouse in 1901 - was that later than the census?
Where was she living in 1901?
Do you have her children’s names?
-
Found them in 1911
Birth
Austin Henry Dockney 1894 Chorlton mmn Partland

Hi
Her name seems to be recorded as Annie but mostly Winifred Annie Dockney
In 1911 her son is Wilfred John Dockney age 21 and a railway clerk and her other son Austin Henry Dockney aged 16 a warehouse clerk
1903 just Austin and Winifred are in the workhouse at Withington and she gives her birth year as 1862 and Roman Catholic
Mostly she puts born in Manchester but Im wondering if she came over from Ireland?
I can find the same three names on the electoral register for 1923 in Withington at Booth Avenue

thanks for the replies :)

Who does she name as her father on her 1892 marriage?
Who are the witnesses?
Have you checked out Winifred McParland, 8 yrs grandaughter, living sith McPartlands in 1871 4047/17/30 in Manchester?

There is a birth here:
Manchester 1862 June quarter
Winefred McPartlin mmn MacNamee
Of course this may not be her. I just wonder if she called herself a widow because she already had a child.

The next bloke she was with was Henry TAYLOR and when he enlisted in 1917 he gave her surname as McPARTLAND.
Debra :)

Birth - Cheshire BMD. https://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/births.php
1889 - Denton
John Wilfrid McPartland mmn McPartland

That Winifred looks a strong possibility (i hope)
Marriage Free BMD
Manchester 1860
Patrick McPortlane and Mary McMannelly (GRO has Winifred’s mother as MacNamee)
Lancashire BMD has Patrick McPartlane and Mary McMannelly - registrar or registrar attended.
Lancs OPC
Baptism: 13th April 1862, St Joseph, Ancoats, Lancashire
Winifrida McPatrond - filia Patritii McPatrond & Mariae (formerly McNameney)
Birth 6th April 1862
Godparents: Michael McPatlond; Anna McPatlond
There is also a baptism for William b 1869 (lancashire BMD - mother's name McNamah)
Lancashire bmd shows deaths in 1869 for William and also Mary McPartland 30 yrs.
This fits with the 1871 census where Patrick is a widow.
There is also a child Mary on that census but i can’t see a birth.

Thank you everyone for your replies
I think Haywood you are correct - she has said she is a widow as she already has a son Wilfred John and consistently states he was born in Denton
So a birth of John Wilfrid McPartland mmn McPartland in Denton in 1889 fits with his age and parentage
On Winifred Annie marriage certificate her fathers name just reads deceased
thanks you so much for your help
Austin Dockery ends up in prison for fraud in 1920s in London. His wife Emily, I can't find her after the 1921 census but he appears to have married again 4 years later to an Ethel B Furness and they appear together on the 1939 register, their daughter is named Winifred born in 1925
