Title: Whittle are they the same person?
Post by: Nessie56 on Tuesday 24 December 24 12:20 GMT (UK)

This is a long shot but worth a try ;)

I have an Agnes Whittle born 1815 Preston Lancashire.

I found the baptism of her son.

Baptism: 16 Jul 1843 St John, Preston, Lancashire
Richard Whittle - [Child] of Agnes Whittle
    Abode: Workhouse
Baptised By: J O Parr Vicar

I noticed her address states workhouse I found an Agnes Whittle on the 1841 census living at Ribchester workhouse with two other children.

Agnes Whittle 25
Joseph aged 5
Peter aged 1

I am unsure if they are the same person, I have found Agnes and her son Richard on later census records but no Joseph or Peter so I am unsure if I am on the right track.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

There is a burial for Peter 13th December 1841 St Wilfrid, Ribchester (living in the workhouse).

If Joseph survived (times were tough for the poor) he could have been working away from home by 1851.

There's a Joseph Whittle of roughly the right age with his grandparents Richard & Nancy Whittle in Queens Street, Preston in 1851

Wow Thank you all so much

So excited. It is looking like they are the same person.

I am trying to finish the family tree for a Christmas gift for my son's partner (I do have permission)

Thank you again
Merry Christmas. :)
