Hi all:
Trying to help a friend locate where her O'Mealia family may have come from.
Christopher O'Mealia; b. abt 1825; IRL is found in the 1851 and 1861 census of Whitby, Ontario,
Canada.
His descendants eventually moved to the Akron, Erie County, NY (son Nicholas) and eventually to the Rochester, Monroe County, NY area (Charles Christopher; b. 1878, NY).
I have suggested that she do a DNA test to find similar surnames.
Does anyone have any suggestions as how to find Christopher O'Mealia?
Thanks in advance.
Chuck

There is a Christopher Melia, baptized Balbriggan, Co. Dublin on 2/8/1827.

But who know if that is him.
Would help if OP specified religion, and names of children, in birth order.

I note that on the 1861 census Christopher is stated to be 46, implying a birth ca. 1815
On the 1851 census he is stated to be 32, implying a birth ca. 1819.
Neither is consistent with birth in 1825, or indeed 1827.
