Just encouraging contributions to the new week's diary. :)
Very glad to hear from Mowsehowse in last week's diary, well done MH on your progress, onward and upwards!
Also pleased to hear the news of Caroline's family, that must be such a relief.
We haven't heard from River Tyne Lass on the diary threads for some time, I hope all is well with you RTL.
Hoping all illnesses and ailments improve. :)
It's been a cold one today on the North East Coast but our forecast for tomorrow is 13 degrees!

Hi Roobarb,
Yes, all is well with me. I have kept meaning to pop on here but it has felt quite a hectic time with Christmas coming up and it is easy to not be able to catch up/keep up with all the news.
Congratulations Viktoria on new Baby Lily! How exciting to have another addition in your family.
I am sorry that your progress is going slower than you would like Mowsehowse but I am glad you are well enough to post on here. :)
I have had two Christmas meals already and have another two coming up this week. Good thing I like sprouts. ;) I am on holiday now until the weekend and will be going away for Christmas tomorrow so I wish you all a Merry Christmas now and will look forward to catching up again in the New Year. :)

Lovely to hear from you RTL and so pleased you’re having a well deserved rest from work…
Enjoy all your Christmas meals… personally I can do without sprouts although they do taste better than in days gone by!
Thanks Roobarb, I can tell you it is a big relief all round although long way to go getting all the meds right. Did you watch Portrait Artist of the Year?!!!
It’s been pretty nippy down south too the last couple of days so will be pleased to see the temps up a bit… sorry if some would like a white Christmas though.
Thankfully no travelling for us this year… family coming on 28th gone to in-laws till then.
Happy Christmas to everyone

Great to hear all is well with you RTL and how lovely to be getting away for Christmas. Have a fab time. :D
(I love sprouts!)
Caroline, yes I did watch Portrait Artist. What can I say?!! ;D
Well I can't say I was impressed by the winning artist's portrayal of the lovely Joely Richardson as a witch! And again for the female sitter in the final. Or by the fact that all of the paintings produced by the winner were more like caricatures than portraits.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that he could produce a proper portrait of Lorraine Kelly, even though I wouldn't have been able to identify her from it!
I do think the judges go too far with their search for something a bit more 'out there', particularly when they're presented with such stunning and almost ethereal portraits as those by the female finalist.

To all a very Merry Christmas.
I have gone from 3 days a week on dialysis (4 hrs each time) to 2 days a week still 4 hrs.
Glad to hear Mousehouse is making slow progress and Caroline's daughter-in-law has a new Kidney.
Victoria enjoy your new addition to your family. RTL enjoy your holiday, you deserve it. To everyone else with health issues, I hope improvement is on the way in 2025.
Here's to a great New Year.

Adding my good wishes to all for Christmas and the coming year, be safe and well as you get together with your families ... peace and joy :)
A quiet spot nearby to take in the sea air, about 4 minutes walk from home ...

Love the picture Mare… it reminds me of Musick Point near Bucklands Beach where my son used to live.. we’d cycle up through the golf course and sit on a bench just like that one watching all the ferries and shops passing! Happy memories.
Hope you have a great Christmas in the sunshine.
Best wishes to everyone for the season and New Year. Thank you all for your kind comments regarding my son and daughter in law, she’s now home.

Merry Christmas to all on the diary threads.
I don’t keep up as much these days as I used to so am not up with everyone’s latest news as I only pop in from time to time.
I just wanted to pick up on this though and send my best wishes to Caroline’s lovely daughter in law and her son - what an amazing selfless thing he has done.

Thanks Ruskie- very kind of you, indeed it was and we’re very proud of him. They are recovering well and both at home which is staggering considering the ops were Thursday last week!
I know you’ve spoken to my son so it means a lot to read your comment.
Happy Christmas to you and your family.

:-* Caroline. You’ve got a good lad there. :)
Such a short hospital stay is amazing after such invasive surgery. As they are both doing so well I’m sure that will be a huge relief for you as well. :)

Well done to your son Caroline, a very brave thing to do.
Well Christmas is all almost over, my dad used to sing a song about Christmas is all over , money all is spent and it went on to say now they have to pay the rent, it always comes to my mind on boxing day.
Hope whatever you were doing, celebrating or not that you all had a good day.

A lovely day yesterday with the family all together. It's not often that we manage that because of my son's work commitments. The grandchildren still insisted on leaving out Santa's mince pie and sherry and carrots for the reindeer even though they are well aware at their age that it's all a fairy tale. More importantly they left stockings for Santa to fill and their parents went along with that happily.
There was a long phone call with all the rest of my family in Cumbria who were gathering from various parts of the world and my nephew even managed to piece in his partner in Switzerland who hadn't been able to make it because of work on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. Living in cosy Devon as we now do, I do miss those Cumbrian fells and lakes (though not the weather).
Why do so many boxes of chocolates appear among my presents? I'm afraid I shall have to go on a New Year's diet so that I can comfortably fit into my new jumpers. Christmas dinner, cooked by my son-in-law, was delicious and I was pleased with the pudding and cake that was my contribution to the feast. The same old decorations appear on the cake every year - a team of 10 jolly Santas tumbling about in the snow-covered cake.
I wish you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year. May the conflicts around the world soon be resolved. May unrest here be settled with care and love. As I grow older I do wish for a better world and a resolution of all the problems that beset it. :)

I'm late with festive greetings
Apologies I've been down the pub
The olde worlde rootschatters inn
Sharing adventures & gingerbread mulled wine in there
Very tired all the time even fell asleep at the Christmas dinner table 6 pm
Not helped by smoke alarmS
yes plural
Top flat went off weds night Thurs morning 2am
Flat 2 rushed down to me
Yet she didn't HEAR mine last Saturday just smelt the burning wheat bag in the microwave
I didn't accompany her to top flat and as the alarm had gone off she was debating with her boyfriend wether they should wake the couple there to find out what had happened.
They decided against it
+We went to bed...I think she was on a walk but I texted her in afternoon & she had heard nothing
I find this soothing and am writing to estate agents
According to Google smoke alarms in rented properties sould be mains powered and interconnected with other flats so if any flat is on fire every one can get out of the building. It's worth looking into.

Just managed to pop in - I'm afraid I'm slightly re-names, and despite helpful advice on here I can't seem to get a message through to try to reclaim my real self / name. The ways I've tried don't seem to work...
However, Happy new Year to all - just incase I get completely lost for ever....

Can't understand why you can't get the mods to put you back to what you were named before, if you message them they are very helpful but if course being holiday time they might have taken a well earned rest
Take care
