Hello I am back on the search for the ancestors of Thomas Soanes and Sarah Chrisp who married in Bramfield in 1695.
I have drawn a total blank on the origins of Sarah Chrisp, so am focusing on the Soane family.
They named their first three sons Thomas, William and John, so I rather assume that Thomas' father had one of these names.
I have found a few Soanes wills in the nearby villages on Suffolk Record Office at Halesworth, Walpole and Darsham.
They are:

What I would like to try and do is piece together the families with this name in the area and I was therefore wondering if anyone please has a transcript of the Halesworth parish registers, as these are not on Suffolk FHS.
It would be really helpful and save me a lot of cash from buying all those wills to try and put something together first!
Thank you,
Jon

FreeREG (https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_queries/6762dcf8865574e7ade12226?locale=en) has many Soanes variants from the Halesworth registers between 1653 and 1899.
The latest news I've seen from Suffolk FHS about the Dunwich Deanery transcription is that well over half of the parishes for 1650-1753 have been done and also half of those for 1538-1649. The work continues but may not be completed before images of the original registers are available, if these come online early next year as planned.

Thanks for this link as I wasn't sure any of the registers were on freereg. Sadly only two marriages from the 1600s and baptisms after 1713. Looks like I will have to wait for ancestry to come online to try and sort everything out for the 1600s! Thanks again.

Alternatively, if you live close to a FamilySearch centre I believe you can browse images of transcripts for Halesworth (baptisms, marriages, and burials) on their computers there, spanning the years 1653 to 1837. The transcripts were written by Thomas Shortrudge, former rector (of Halesworth, I think). Here's (https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/157450) the pertinent catalogue entry. You'll want to click on the little camera icon under the "Format" heading when at the centre.
You can find your nearest FamilySearch centre at this web address (https://locations.familysearch.org/en/search).
Many thanks, David, for mentioning that FreeREG has early parish register transcripts for Halesworth. It was something I was not aware of, and I have found some entries relating to some of my ancestors.

Apparently no Soanes etc. but many other families are commemorated in the Revd Francis Haslewood's copies of the monumental inscriptions in Halesworth church and churchyard (Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology, 1896, volume IX, part 2, pp. 234-255 (http://suffolkinstitute.pdfsrv.co.uk/customers/Suffolk%20Institute/2014/01/10/Volume%20IX%20Part%202%20(1896)_Monumental%20inscriptions%20in%20Halesworth%20Church%20and%20yard%20F%20Haslewood_234%20to%20255.pdf)).
