Title: Peacocks in Dauntsey and Christian Malford
Post by: ellerydesign on Monday 02 December 24 12:07 GMT (UK)
I'm researching my Peacock ancestors in Wiltshire (primarily Christian Malford and Dauntsey) in 17-18th centuries.
One Thomas Peacock born 1658, will dated 13 Nov 1692, married Mary Hubbard, Seagry 24 June 1677. He lived at Lea & Cleverton parish. He had issue Thomas, Edward, Robert, James, Ann and Mary. I can see Edward bap at Lea & Cleverton 24 June 1677 but no other information. If anyone has any other info on this family please let know. I'd be very grateful 😊

Here is something from King's Bench, 1642:

Wilts. Thomas Peacocke versus Thomas Gardiner and John Tomes
Trespass, at St Johns Meade, Christian Malford: chasing or driving away a horse. "Equam...fugaverunt & chasiverunt."

I think "chasiverunt" is not a verb known to Cicero.

Many thanks for that one Vance. I'll investigate it. My Thomas was born probably in Dauntsey about 1658, so that might be his grandfather also called Thomas.

Hi Vance.
Thanks for these links. Yes I have seen them. These are in fact Thomas's parents and are my direct line ancestors. I'm directly descended from their daughter and Thomas's sister Mary.
