Hi all
This photo is a social occasion with my parents in the back row just below the crest on the wall. Dad has the bow tie, mum a check dress, and their best man is next to them.
I can confidently date this to 1949 to 1951 but have no idea what the occasion was or where they were.
I have attached three versions of the same photo
All scanned at 600dpi
Color cropped to centre of photo, this appears to give the best detail on the crest but not the people
Black and white same crop less detail on crest but better with the people
Grayscale of whole photo but reduced after scan to small web size and fit within posting requirements
Would it be possible to improve the picture of the people and provide any clues to what the crest is
Final clue it would be a working man's venue. If it helps my parent's wedding took place in 1951 and the reception was the Advance Hall, North Finchley, London
thanks in advance

Great restoration!

I will suggest that it is The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes written in the frame though I cannot find a link to Advance Hall for the moment, maybe others will be more inspired,

Is there a possibility that the heading is not in English?

Agree the frame is RAOB, similar design below:

Hi all
Thanks for the response and the clean up
I guessed the crest was the Buffaloes but nice to have that confirmed

Definitely the Buffs. Their usual hangout as “working men’s masons” and the profusion of glasses suggests to me the upstairs room of a pub somewhere.
