Thank you for responding CaroleW ,but I'm attempting to ascertain at what point in my man's 10 year service the information re his siblings was provided,so I can try to discover any surviving records from the institution concerned as I'm drawing a blank so far.

That address is a bit odd.  In the 1891 census there's an Olive Mount Lodge in Mill Lane, Wavertree (a Balmer family).  In the 1901 census there is 1 to 8 Olive Mount.

The 1900 directory shows 1 to 8 Olive Mount Villas in Mill Lane

The next of kin information probably dates from his attestation in 1897.  The rest of the information on that page would have been added over the course of his 12 years of service.

Thank you for your help ShaunJ, now I can search for that year (plus /minus) it may save me a lot of time, assuming the records for the institution still exist.

Why do you think it's an institution?

Olive Mount Lodge was most likely the gatehouse of the Olive Mount mansion estate. William Balmer who occupied the lodge in 1891 was a butler.

The whole 48 acre estate was sold to Liverpool Select Vestry in 1897 to be repurposed for children's cottage homes.

My bad Shaun,I had made a note several years ago as I couldn't find the siblings anywhere ,and I rather foolishly had it in my mind that they may have been residents at the 'children's home' despite the fact that they were obviously adults....so back to the search for me then. Thanks for your help Shaun,I appreciate it.
