Hi all looking to find, why Robert Buck Lowthorp,b 4 feb 1794 d 23 jan 1842, named his son after Robert Henry Foreman, namely Henry Foreman Lowthorp -Thomas,1828-1892. Thanks to previous finds by Ciderdrinker, as well as others,Robert Buck Lowhurst was witness on R H Foreman's marriage to Eleanor Mary Marlow nee Shamus on the 30th Aug 1815.Also Henry Foreman Lowthorp-Thomas, also named a son after another Foreman George. who,s mother was born in India, as was a sibling. I dont know if its possible to link the families, thanks in advance.

There doesn't have to be a biological link. There are numerous instances of people calling their children after close friends or even their employers.

I thought there might be a way of finding a link between the two Roberts as I know people give their kids names of pals, actors etc.I thought surnames were added to an offsprings name as a way of acknowledging a family member or maiden name, especially as Roberts B Lowthorp*s son, continued the giving of the Foreman name, Oh well looks like there is no explanation available.
