Mary I Mcquistion (Kelly) married Hugh McQuiston. Their daughter born May 19 1893, also named Mary.
Mary Anne II McQuistion went on to marry a William Wallace Bratton and had 5 boys and one girl. Once boy passed away at age 1, Wallace Cecil Bratton. Other sons names were Robert, William, James and Hugh. Daughters name was Christina Mary Anne Bratton (Bratten)
Due to William Wallace Brattons abusiveness, Mary Ann left him and the children and fled.
Mary Ann ended up marrying Oliver Wilson and moving to Vancouver BC and having Charlie Oliver Wilson.
I am wanting to know more about Mary as she is my great grandmother through my grandpa, Charlie. Does anyone have pictures or stories to share?

Welcome to Rootschat
You have not given any details as to which country/county these people lived in prior to moving to Vancouver. As you have posted on the Beginners board - no clues there😀
Where was the McQuiston/Kelly marriage?
Where & when was the McQuiston/Bratton marriage
Where & when was the Bratton/Wilson marriage?

Hugh McQuesten married Mary Kelly 1886 Ballantrae Ayrshire so I have asked the moderator to move your post to the Ayshire board

There is a tree on Ancestry with a lot of info about the family but no photos. You could try contacting the tree owner in case they are able to help

Carole, I think the tree belongs to the OP, Kwils.

Hi Kwils, Welcome to RootsChat. :)
Are you sure that you have identified the correct family? Looking at your tree on Ancestry, you seem to have conflicting census records and other family details which don’t look correct. There is no sign of your Mary Ann being with the missionary family in 1901 census. The mother’s maiden name was not Kelly. Have you obtained your Mary’s birth certificate?
There are 2 different Hugh McQuistons from Ayrshire, around at the same time. Both have a wife named Mary. One was a missionary but this is NOT your family. The other was a ploughman, whose wife was Mary Kelly.
There are several other public trees with incorrect records attached, so one probably copied the other. :'(

Death for Mary Kelly / Mary Mcquiston in 1925 in Mid Calder
-
I have found your Mary Ann in 1901 census.
The family is in Barrhead and Levern, Renfrewshire. Note spelling of surname.
Hugh MCQUISTION 41
Mary 40
William 13
Mary Ann 7
(Ref on Scotlands People 572/2 1/ 23)
That census record doesn’t seem to appear on Ancestry for some odd reason………..
Oh yes, it does, but the transcription is SO bad.
It is under the name ”Maryam McQuentin” in Neilston, Renfrewshire.
That census entry confirms the birth record that I posted earlier will be the correct one.
In 1911 census the parents are in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, and Mary Ann is in Stewarton, Ayr.
In 1921 census, Hugh and Mary McQuiston (60 and 61) are in Hurlford, Ayrshire.
In 1921, the son William (32) is in Mid Calder with his wife Jane and 2 children.
William McQuiston married Jane Bratten in 1910 in Inch.

Once you’ve looked at the marriage record, I think you’ll find that Mary Kelly was born in Penninghame on 26 July 1860, the daughter of John Kelly and Maryann McClellan.
John Kelly is recorded in the census as a shepherd and a ploughman, born abt 1837.

Yes, I am very new to this and not sure how it all works. Thank you everyone for helping.
I believe that Mary Anne Bratton, nee McQuiston married William Wallace Bratton who was 17 years older than her and that this Mary's mother was also a Mary "Kelly" but I could be wrong.

How does it work? You asked for help. People responded and pointed out problems / errors in your Ancestry tree. The correct information has been posted in this thread, so you need to read through it all, carefully.
If you engage in “conversation” with those trying to assist, you will probably get more out of your thread. If you don’t understand a post, then ask for further help.

Yes, that is basically correct. Mary Ann’s mother was Mary Kelly. You need to obtain Mary Ann McQuiston’s birth certificate - the details of it have been posted. You should also obtain the marriage certificate for Mary Kelly to Hugh McQuesten in 1886.
Mary Ann McQuiston had only one brother. He was William, and he also married into the Bratton family.
Apart from birth and marriage records, information obtained from the death certificates (as posted) and census records (as posted) will help you to understand the family better.

I have posted below a brief chronological summary of your Hugh McQuisten family, so that hopefully you can see where you have gone off track.
I recommend that you do not follow other public trees on Ancestry, as they are all wrong, because they have all copied the other. None have done the most basic checking of simple facts or have bothered to look at birth or marriage records. Consequently they all incorporated several McQuiston families into one!
Scottish records are available from ScotlandsPeople https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
