Hello
Does anyone know where Western Gower, number 9 Yard, Walker was and, what type of a place it was?

Do you have any other details?
What kind of record is the address from, what date?
-
Hi Heywood
It was the 1921 census for Newcastle upon Tyne.

In 1911, it is recorded as Western Glower, Low Walker.
Perhaps number 9 Yard was similar to a Court - poor housing, built around a shared court and toilets etc?

You can see Western Glower on this map, near the Brick Works

Perhaps it means Shipyard number 9?

Oh yes, I see it. Chap worked as a Blacksmith for Messrs Armstrong Whitworth & Co, Shipbuilders so that makes sense.
Cheers

Oh I see - it was his employer’s address, not his home address.
-
No, it was listed as his family address.
Thanks again.
