I am currently building a family tree for a friend and one of his relatives is (I believe) Clifford above-named. I have information on the above crash where all the 7 crew perished. To confirm that Clifford is the family member I hoping that I could get information on dob or parents without trying to obtain service records. There is information on the other 6 crew (dob, family) but only the service number for Clifford. Would welcome any assistance. Ray

The Clifford Healey you are looking for when would he have been born?
Did he have any siblings?
-
Hi Amondg, Clifford was born 1921 in Bedwellty Gwent. He had 3 surviving siblings, Margretta 1919, Desmond 1924 and Raymond 1929. I am not looking for any information on the family has I have all that covered. It is just that there is family information that Clifford died in 1943 and that he was in the RAF and that the plane he was on was shot down near the Faroe Islands. This is the only RAF plane I could find that fitted that description with Clifford Healey on board. But the only information online that I could find just gave name rank and service number. I couldn't find any UK death record. Thanks for your reply. Ray

They have a good forum, maybe they can help you out.

Hi Philip, thanks for the reply. I have the RAF Commands posting which again just gives name rank and number. I have a feeling that because they just have that information I will probably need the service record to be 100%, but I thought I would try Rootschat who I have found to be so successful in the past. There is a Clifford Healey born 1921 with widowed mother Annie and siblings Desmond (b 1924) and Arthur (b 1933) living in Bedwellty in 1939; shown as a colliery hewer. Could this be your man?
Tracing back there is a marriage between a Thomas Healey and an Annie George. The birth registration for this Clifford gives the mother's maiden name as George.

Thank you nanny Jan, but I do have all the information on Clifford Healey and his family, what I need is confirmation information that the Clifford Healey that died in the air crash in 1943 is the Clifford Healey that is in my family tree. I believe it is the man but I need a dob or family connection to confirm. Ray

Hi softly I don't have a Find My Past account and what I can see gives a death date but not a dob, so I assume that it is the information that I already have but I will go to the library and check on the Find My Past website, but thanks. Ray

nanny jan, that dob is the one in my tree

C. Healy (missing second 'e') is recorded on the WW2 section of the Tredegar war memorial. See image 6 https://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/2016 (https://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/2016) Might be worth checking with the local archive to see if there is anything relating to the names/re-dedication of the memorial.
